N/A No rating miniDVD/cDVD JPG/JPEG DivX MPEGISO Comments: Just an update to my previous report. Saba plays non-standard SVCDs with no problem. The MPEG file was prepared according to Half D1 standard and then burned to CD-R as SVCD. 100% playable. So, using 100 min CD-Rs, you can use quite high bitrate and get decent quality of your video. Also DVDRs with Half D1 MPEGs (more than 6 hours of video) are playable. Countryboy

CVD? $80 N/A 7 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD DivX Comments: I am quite happy with this player. It plays almost everything. So far I tried pressed DVDs, VCDs and CDs, recordable DVD+R/W, CD-R (audio, (S)VCD including non-standard, and K(S)VCD). It rejected miniDVD on CD-R, but I am still not sure if I made it the right way. Also switching between regions (or making it region-free) is very easy (remote). But for people demanding highest quality of TV screen picture and wide selection of setup possibilities Saba is not the first choice. Still, I like it for not being picky about formats.

N/A 8 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: Bought mine for 995sek on sale (1395sek). About 100euro i think. And it´s a damn godd player. A bit ugly. But i rip alot dvd to dvd... And the most players can´t see the menys on dvd´s that i rip from "mcrovision copy protected" dvd´s... But this can! It´s the only one I tried who can see them. And that´s a good sign. So.. It´s a good dvd. But: I don´t like the design :-)

I am going to purchase a new DVD player and I am interested if this player works with DVD+R/RW discs I burn. Please post if you only have tested the player seriously with these media.

N/A No rating Comments: Heres the region free method: --- 1. Power on the player without a disc. 2. Press following buttons on the remote controller: up,down,left,right,1,2,3,7,8,9,4,5,6 then you end up in a menu where you can select your region (all,1,2,3,4,5,6) and press ok to select it. --- I found this on some french site but can't find it anymore to give the credits.

I've asked technical support to upgrade firmware in order to select between two distinct audio tracks on svcd but the only response was: it's impossible! I'm a bit upset, anyway the device is good for those who want to start enjoying dvd/svcd/vcd/mp3/jpg.

Manual says that this player supports DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+RWs too. XVCD/XSVCD was tested with 720x576 with 2600Kbit/s mpg1/2 files. Tested 640x480 on XSVCD but it didn't work, seems like it wants some specific aspect ratio, dunno. The player support both photocds and plain jpgs on normal datacd.

CVD? $125 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename Comments: For my needs, the best choice, I've also had for 2 days a daewoo I've bought for about the same price but without all the feature of this one!! Price is in EUROs and buyed from VIPIANA store in Italy. Plays VCD and SVCD without trouble, I've tryed even different support makes, it works fine with all. (even low quality CD's) MP3 sounds good but the name is limited to 10 chars, suppotr for directories is included. I could not test DVD r/rw support. It supports also jpeg images. VCD chapters and menues works as in demo VCD provided by vcdimager that I've burned and used for tests. No region free No macrovision disabling features known at the moment.
