Comments: Turns out this player does not use the same ESS chip as the 1500 model (uses Sunplus) and because of that engineering mistake it has a VGA out that only works with duplicated material (divx / xvid / dvd-r). In other words the macrovision scrambles the signal on VGA output when you watch a rented legit movie. So this is competely useless with my VGA projector!! Now when I rent a movie I have to duplicate it with DVD Shrink before I can watch it, (something girls don't find very sexy when you plan to get lucky) My choices are: 1) buy a television, or 2) send this model back for the 1500 model, or 3) go to svideo.com and buy their video converter box. I went with option number three and bought the converter box which lets me send an RCA or s-video signal in 1024x768 to my DIY VGA projector, pretty sweet at 75$ USD !! God bless anyone who can hack this firmware to get long filename support and disable that pesky macrovision!!!

MP3 WMA CVD? $80 5 days 7 of 10 DVD-WMA DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX DVD-RAM Comments: Lots of great features on this player that I liked especially the VGA out, which is whats giving me a headache. I don't have a television so I need this output to work and it is for some unknown reason not decrypting the CSS copyright signal. So when I play store bought DVD's the signal is this dark jittery blocky one, and then once every 10-15 min it clears for a bit as if I were recording onto a VCR. DVD-R backup movies work great, but I don't want to have to rip a movie every time I rent it (only sometimes if its a good one). I tried the player on my friends TV through RCA and s-video and it work fine, too bad I don't plan on buying a television anytime soon! I'm also upset that there is no ID3 or long filename support making it almost impossible to identify my mp3's with eight characters. Come on, MSDOS used eight characters and that was twenty years ago guys, time to get with the program. But this isn't anything a good firmware update couldn't fix, and it would make this unit a top of the line contender if they did.
