The unit has several Achilles heals. This is my second RJ-Tech DVD player. Yes, I'm crazy! The first one had an absolutely dreadful remote.. nigh on useless, unless your name is Jobe and you are having a particularly patient day. The first unit, stopped doing video, after about 10 - 15 hours of use. RJ-Tech, here in the Vancouver area, did actually offer to repair it, though long out of warranty. I simply had little use for a DVD player and had it for nearly 3 years, when it stopped working after only a few uses. Within a couple of months, and even less use, the audio stopped working. At that point it was relegated to the alley, from where some unfortunate took it thinking it looked brand new.

Since none of my other stand-alone DVD players/VCR-DVD players are region free and none seem to play DVDs I burn on my computer, I took the chance and bought this RJ-Tech model. It worked reasonably well, save the remote which was as totally abysmal as the prior one. After 11 months, with considerably more use than the first RJ player, this one started making a hammering noise with some DVDs. In nearly every case these were commercial DVD videos which work just fine on other players. Shortly after the intermittent hammering noise, on initial reads the player started stalling. This rapidly deteriorated to doing this more frequently and to the point where it would simply seize up and not respond to any commands from either the front panel or the remote.

I notice that the latest Rj-TECH DVD players are now labeled as iView, though the distributor remains, at least in this area, the same Rj-TECH location, with a changed name. Me thinks this may be an end run, to get out of having to deal with what is likely a 100% early failure rate on this product line.

I am taking the RJ-1000HD in for service, under warranty and will post the outcome of that.

Well, not running anymore, reliability is not here. Product was nice at start, however, the tray is that much cheap, that the player don't play anymore... For zone free dvd player, just look an another model if you want it for more than 3 month.

Comments:
Well the player play everything well that is supposed to do. Even if the High Resolution is a bit confusing at start versus other model, it still running very well.

The main problem is with the remote control that doesn't respond very well. As i know, that i'm not alone with this prob, so i supposed that isn't a fabrication problem.

This player, is NATURALY region free, no hack to do. That's maybe the most interesting part of this model and mostly a great quality for a low price.
