Piece of junk. Never think of buying it. Now it comes under the badge Spectroniq. Freezes, skips, pixelates, etc. Often does not allow to choose a scene, does not recognize menu. Plays dvd-+r, rw fine but may occasionally freeze in the middle of the movie. I do not understand when people say that you get what you pay for. I personally paid for being able to watch a movie from beginning to end. And it did not happen. And all additional features that this player boasts of can not compensate this inability to fulfill the basic function that dvd players are built for. Virtually no technical support and only 90 days warranty.
No more no name stuff!

| I picked this up at Sears over the Christmas holiday for $20 after a $10 rebate. It plays DVD -r pretty good. (I currently use Taiyo Yuden 4x.) It occassionally freezes and skips and certainly lacks the quality of my best unit a Jwin 135. Audio is good. It has both coaxial and optical connections. Thus, it plays both Dolby and DTS with the proper receiver. In addition, it plays MP3 DVDs. It does lack a random function, though. Likwise, it plays all regions and PAL DVDs fine. As I recall, it came configured for all regions. Finally, it runs on 110 - 240 V so it will work in many foreign countries. In general, it qualifies as a pretty good unit, particularly at its price. It does disappoint occassionally reading DVD -r when it skips on them but it reads them better than most units. |

Hi. I also got this for only $14.95 at Compusa a couple months back. Wondering if anyone has figured out how to set CD play to "random"? I know it sounds simple...but, the instructions are very 'lite'. Really cheap good player too. I mean $14.95! I shouldn't expect much...but still random play would be nice.
Thanks. |
