CVD? $90 over 1 year 8 of 10 Comments: It plays Double Layer (DL) DVD+R without any problems (I tried it on a Verbatim disk).

CVD? $90 N/A 10 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: the best player i've bought since the new apex 1100w don't even play vcds!!!! it even has a lcd screen at the front of the player for the same price as an apex!!! plays everything u spit at it and the menu setup is almost identical to the apex!!! so if u can't find a 1 meg version of apex go with this one!!! only drawback is that it's a bit bulky in size!!

CVD? $60 N/A No rating Comments: Great player if you can find one, plays the whole 9 yards in CD formats such as mp3, svcd and vcd with all the little things you want like selectable audio tracks. Also a nice surprise its it played the dvd-rw I tested that came with my new Pioneer A05 burner. It played the dvd-rw without a hitch when my Apex ad-1500 and PS2 failed to. Great machine for CDR media and testing DVD-RWs and DVD-Rs. But i suggest getting a less compatible system if you are authoring dvds.

Then VCD recorded on CD-R have lots of problems to play fluently... So you buy commercial VCD or DVD this player can be great... but this is not my case!

CVD? $70 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: As some had mentioned, use Memorex MVD2027 region hack. I tried it successfully with a region-3 DVD. Even without the region hack I still can play DVD as: 1. Put in DVD, wait until it complain Wrong Region 2. press 0, then >> but some functions might not work (like multi audio mode) The remote conflict with my Citizen TV big time. Not bad!

CVD $80 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: good price the remote frequency is the same as my toshiba TV it plays DVD's very poorly -constantly it freezes but it plays everything else i throw at it perfectly if you don't use DVD's a lot and primarily use everything else, this is the player for you otherwise head somewhere else

CVD $70 N/A 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: I fired up every single vcd/xvcd/svcd/xsvcd in my collection. EVERYTHING played without problems! Wonderful player for only 99 bucks canadian! The only problem is the picture quality. For me at least, with the default RCA cables, it is shit. Even my DVDs have strange colors, noise and flickering! Maybe I'm doing something wrong or I should just adjust something, this I don't know. I should buy a better cable. ;) Will try with the multi region tricks with a Pal Region 2 DVD soon.

CVD $60 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Plays all the samples VCD/CVD/SVCD/XVCD/XSVCD that can be downloaded from this site. All burned with nero, on no-name cheap (18.00 USD per 100) CD-R and Maxell CD-RW. There is a locale setting in the preferences menu, but it does not stop me playing region 1 media if set to region 'China', so either it has no effect, or is all regions. I have no way to test presence of macrovision either. From the manual and GUI this looks like a related/newer version of the Memorex MVD2027. Remote conflicts with my 11 year old Toshiba TV remote.

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: $99CDN at futureshop. Great price for what it does. To access preferences you cannot have a disc in the machine. DTS? I hooked to my Kenwood receiver and almost blew my speakers. I think it's sending digital into analogue channel. Have not been able to get DTS working. Tried turning '3D sound' off as recommended in manual, but you can't access this in DTS mode. Dolby Digital 5.1 works. Remote, LOL... when I press volume up on my Kenwood receiver remote it brings up DVD setup screen. Has decent features like 2,4,8x ff,fr,slow mo... Thank goodness it's going to my parents to play VCD's while babysitting my kids.

In the doc, they talk about MEMOREX...???...(if we have a problem for return it) In the DVD menu, I have a "preference" tab, but not selectable.... any ideas to acces this tab??? I made a SVCD with a mac, and it play without problem( made the svcd with missingmpegtool. 40 minutes of video on a cd 700meg/80min) 99$ at Futurshop in special (normally 129)
