CVD? $? 180 days No rating Comments: I really like this DVD recorder, but I recently moved and lost the remote...does anyone know where I could get a new one?? I've looked on the obvious websites (ebay, amazon, radioshack, etc.) but I have found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thank you!!

CVD? $80 240 days No rating Comments: Third issue I forgot to mention. If you wish to erase a title, it cannot be the last title. If it is, and you try to erase it, you will get a write fail on the DVD and it's all over at that point. I just make sure that I always have one title past the one I wish to erase before I go back and erase it.

CVD? $80 240 days 7 of 10 Comments: I have made over 900 DVDs with this recorder now. It has only failed to finalize 1 DVD with a write error. Not a bad track record. However, I have two issues with it. First, since a few days after I got it, if it is left on 24/7 (as I do), after about a week or two, suddenly on screen and recorded colors will be ghosted and psyadellic in nature. This never starts during a recording, so it has not ruined a DVD. A simple and always effective correction is to just power off/power on the unit. I do not have to wait for it to "cool" or anything. Second, recently it has started not being able to read disks with previously recordings on them, no matter whose -R media I throw at it. This is frustrating, as the unfinalized disks that I have hold treasures that I cannot get to. About half the time I cannot recover the DVD. I have learned if the first time it does not want to acknowledge it is a multi session DVD and it "prepares" the DVD, that if I power off right then and there, then power on, about half the time it will then acknowledge the multisession. Sometimes I have to do that 3-4 times in a row to make it work. When it gets really bad, I run a recording and then it might work again. I presently have about 7 DVDs that it will not read. I plan on taking them to my Mother's place and try it on her machine (same model) when I go to visit the next time. I use cheap DVDs - GQ -R 4x or LG -R (all white). It is picky. It does not like Memorex, Staples or Imation. I have done the hack and made it region free. Response time to remote buttons is a bit sluggish for start/pause/stop. All in all, though, not a bad machine for the price.

CVD? $? 150 days 6 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: I bought this several months ago at Radio Shack. Video quality is excellent as is audio but you can't record in 5.1 surround sound off of dishnetwork sat.

CVD? $? 90 days 8 of 10 Comments: Finally got the firmware to update. Don't know why it wouldn't work before. Go to http://www.liteonit.com/DC/english/download.htm and download the LVW-1105 firmware. It should be a file name like RSMEU0xx (Where xx is the latest version - mine was 015 on the box label and now it is 018). Unzip the one file somewhere. I used Nero 7: CD no multisession, Mode 1, ISO 9660, finalize disk. Put the disk in the Presidian and it asked if I wanted to update it. Not sure what it updated yet. Disclaimer: If your recorder is working okay, you might not want to do this since it always has a chance of screwing up the recorder.

CVD? $80 90 days 8 of 10 DVD-RAM Comments: For the price this works really well. I've used Sony and TDK DVD-R disks and Fuji DVD+R disks all without any problems. Downloaded every Lite-on update firmware I could find and burned CD-R disks different ways in Nero, but the unit won't recognize the disks. Not sure how the previous reviewer managed to update it.

CVD? $70 21 days 6 of 10 Chipset: LSI Logic DMN?? Comments: yes, firmware IS liteon LVW-1105, mine updated perfectly- make sure to use ISO mode 1 ,ISO 9660, and I used ISO filenames. Make sure to finalize CD when you burn your update disk.

CVD? $? 21 days 9 of 10 Comments: So since this machine is the same as the LiteOn 1105, how do we upgrade the firmware for this model. I cannot find Presidian website for firmware upgrades, and when I tried to install the LiteOn 1105 firmware from the LiteOn site, it would not recognise the disc? Has anyone upgraded the firmware for this unit? Apart from that, all is well. Recording quality is great and the menu system is very good. Glen

I have found two 1) Sony 10DPW47L2 UPC Code # 27242 61933 a 10 pack of disks, each in a plastic cover. 2)Value Disk ten pack, cake stack. Bright orange color on disk top UPC Code 37668 44871. Both types of disks were purchased at Comp USA in Ft Lauderdale Fl., December 13th, 2005.

Works well on my Mac with DVD player, but not on PC with Media Player 10. Maybe a setting in the player? Region setting?

No support for Divx/Xvid/MPG4 Support MP3/WMA on ISO Support MPG2 on ISO Tried a few recording with the included DVD+RW, recording and editing work as expected. Better than my first $150 Artec DVD recorder which has problem with editing/finalizing.

I am hesitant to do the firmware upgrade due to current good operation.
