I have had it for almost four years and it still plays flawlessly (after heavy usage). This $35 player has outlasted some of my $100 players (which had less features). However, IT DOES NOT PLAY DiVX/Xvid! There are no firmware hacks out there. Whoever reported that it does is completely in error.

CVD? $? 1 days 8 of 10 MPEGISO Comments: Found one of these units on Ebay brand new for 40 bucks. Just got it today. It's Definately Feature Packed! I'm actually gonna read the user manual for this one. I'm new to the world of dvd authoring...i tried 2 EXACT SAME SONY DVD-R's and 1 worked fine, the other DID NOT WORK... WEIRD...maybe i burned them from different formats, who knows...anyway the region free code works, even though i don't have a PAL/Multi TV i was still able to view PAL Region DVD's in Black and White...that's better than Nothing! Good to know I can take this unit with me to Europe. I put in a CD of .JPG files and it displayed those just fine. Very Sleek and Stylish, I dig the Obnoxious Blue Beam Of Doom that emits from the front of the player, Damn that thing is Bright! It sounds like Sony DVD-R's suck, so I'm gonna start using Memorex or TDK. This unit was a steal for 40 bucks!

CVD? $30 N/A 10 of 10 JPG/JPEG MPEGISO Comments: This thing rocks, picked it up at Target about a year ago and it plays everything. The best thing about this player is that it plays MPEG's on CD-RW's and even on DVD-RW's. I love this player and the appearance of the player isn't bad at all (at least it has a display on the player, unlike most cheap DVD players). I also like all the buttons on the remote that I've never seen on any other DVD player.

CVD $40 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MPEGISO DVD-MPEGISO Comments: I bought this on the spur of the moment. It was less than forty dollars at Target - on clearance. I is AMAZING!. I have had several DVD players and this is the best. It can do a zillion things. The only drawback is its documentation, which is pretty bad. There are a lot of buttons on the remote that do things, but I do not have clue about using them or why they are there. Not one cent went into its appearance, but who cares. I only wish that I had gotten a few more for friends.

N/A 10 of 10 MPEGISO Comments: I bought this DVD player for $35 at Target this summer because it was on sale. The exterior design does not look too great but it has played flawlessly since I got it. Its probably one of the best bargins I have ever had. I have not been able to find them in stores anymore, I hope they make a comeback. Two thumbs up!!

Unfortunately, the only place I've seen it was at Target stores about August 2003. The other unfortunate thing is that when I got it, it was on clearance (you know, those 'red' stickers') and they were clearing them out, so you'd probably be hard pressed to find one of these around now unless they make a 'comeback.' DiVX/MPEG4 update! This player does not play them out of the box--maybe somebody knows some 'hack' or something, but natively, it does not seem to support these formats... Since, this players plays unauthored discs.. i.e. you can mix-n-match mp3s, mpeg1 & 2 files of just about any bitrate on a CD-R or any recordable media, I decided to put MP3s, Mpeg1, Mpeg2, DiVX, and Mpeg4 files on a disk to check the compatibility.. Conclusion: It played the MP3s, Mpeg1, and Mpeg2 files fine but choked completely on the DivX and MPEG4 files.

Very happy, just looking for macrovision hack now... Best buy for money. Recommended A++++++

CVD? $50 N/A 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MPEGISO Comments: I bought this a few months ago for my girlfriend to rent & watch a movie, but hadn't really looked at it until yesterday... This thing ROCKS! It's read every old disk of music or old computer backups I had sitting around, including gif/jpg and mpeg slideshows. The zoom feature on it is really nice, and it has a loop feature on the remote that allows sound sampling. It actually bends the pitch up and down if you play things in FFWD or Reverse, and it has pitch bending on the remote. (presumably for karaoke, but also if you want your favorite movie characters to talk like munchkins). It also has preset graphics EQs for "3d sound" settings. The only drawback I've seen so far is that it will only loop through the contents of one folder when you are playing mp3s.... so you have to burn all your fiels into one folder (rather than separating them by artist) if you want it to loop through all of them.

So far it has played everything I've thrown in it. From Verbatim DVD+RW to the cheap KHybermedia DVD-R. It hasn't hiccuped once. I burned a DVD+RW with some mpeg files and it plays them too. No re-encode necesary. I'm sure you could mix and match mpeg, mp2, and mp3 all on one disc if you wanted. I've applied the Region hack since I own several PAL DVDs. THey look great on my NTSC TV. Now all I need is a macrovision hack and I'm all set. I couldn't recommend this player enough.

N/A No rating Comments: We have been working with a friends and it will not play a Memorex brand DVD+RW with the compatibility bit set. Same DVD plays on all other devices I have access to.

WORKS LIKE A CHARM
