CVD? $300 60 days 4 of 10 DVD-RAM Comments: Tivo features are kind of nice, except automatic deletion. records dvd-r well, dvd-rw did not work with disk that came with unit, records, but does not playback on anything even itself. pc recorded disks are picky, plays some and not others no matter what the format, reinserting a rejected disk sometimes lets it play, then it plays fine. Buggy dvd portion of unit makes for an overall poor unit. Recording quality could be better, even on best quality, it is not as good as live viewing.

CVD? $500 60 days 5 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: it has a tivo, but you have to pay $399 to get tivo plus, so the basic is ok, you cannot edit commercials or anything, you can record DVD(at the same quality it was recorded to the hard drive)

N/A 2 of 10 Comments: Don't bother. I loved this machine at first until I figured out the pixels weren't popping up everywhere because of the storm we are having in Michigan. Besides all the squares you'll be seeing there's a flickering problem on some channels. Pioneer IS aware of the problem (search CNET customer reviews for a big discussion) but "they're working on it" without an fix date in sight AND they'll tell you that's the way it might be forever. The guy I talked to said it's only a small percentage of users complaining about it but I've got to wonder what's in their eyes. The controls are awesome, as is the whole concept, but I feel the $800 I spent meant a quality machine. I'd expect this from an Apex but Pioneer? Plays every -R and +R I threw at it. Really wanted this machine to work....

CVD? $800 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I've had problems with recently created DVD-Rs that will play in my PC, but I might have authored wrong. My home movies play just fine on DVD-R, but I have not been able to play my DVD backups made with DVD Shrink and burned with Roxio in DVD-R mode.
