CVD? $700 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: This player doesn't compare to a lot of players in terms of media supported. It plays vcds with no problems but can't seem to play svcds. Audio CDs are a given and sound great. The obvious format that few dvd players can compare to this unit with is Laserdisc. It's a great LD player with fantatstic audio and has the great gamma turn system. This allows both sides of disc to be played without flipping it( one of the greatest features a laserdisc player can have). Handsome looking and durable for me, two years and counting. Most users of this site could care less about it's LD capabilities but a lot of us who still have the 1933 King Kong or Star Wars trilogy know this format still has something to offer.

N/A 1 of 10 Comments: Lifetime of this product is very short! After a little more than one year I needed to change the main board of the player. I spend 400€ for that after I have been granted a discount from Pioneer! After 3 years the headsblock needs to be changed! 437€ more to pay to repear... And it is not the lonelly product of Pioneer with wom I got problems.

N/A No rating Comments: Tested witgh Ritek DVD-R, Optodisc DVD-RW, Sony DVD+RW, and DVD-On DVD+R. All of them works. I'm using Sony DRU500A to burn the material, though.

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Great player if you need one that plays both DVD and Laser Discs. Love the feature that you can mark your place in a DVD and then remove it and re-insert it and it will still retain the mark. (Of course the "mark" is maintained by the player, not the DVD.) The only problem with this function is that it works on only about 50% of DVDs that I have played...and when it doesn't work, it won't even allow you to mark the DVD to return to the same place even without removing it from the player. I have used Ritek DVD+R with good success and also Memorex CD-R (as VCD). I burned using ULEAD DVD Movie Factory 2 (Trial Version) and a NEC 1100-A (from Dell) DVD Writer.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: The Pioneer DVL-919 is a very nice DVD/LD player that also supports VCD playback. Unfortantly, this player does not support SVCD, or else I would give it a higher rating. I'm very happy to report that both DVD+RW and DVD-R have been tested and work fine on the DVL-919.

CVD? $600 N/A No rating Comments: Sometimes has problems recognising VCDs, thinking they are CDs. SVCD plays back but is very jerky, at a frame rate of about 1 frame per half second. Indicates the player is either unable to read the disk fast enough or to process the information.
