CVD? $? 90 days 10 of 10 Comments: Have problems with Buena Vista titles (Atlantis, Monstyers&Co): initial menu section interrupts in video and audio (then the movie is ok), it seems a problem of bad authoring/editing, does anybody kwows if fixable with firware upgrade? Not 100% compatible with DVD+RW (sometimes works, sometimes not - with the same disc). Not very tolerant to any non-standard DVDs.

N/A 10 of 10 Comments: The drive is great. I just burned my own made DVDs(-R, -RW) with the Pioneer DVR-A05. Both DVDs play correct without any problem. It was an expensive drive to buy, but clearly worth the investment!

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: I have this player more than 3 yrs. First i was unhappy that it cost me so much and there is no difference between simple players. Now i know that 717 is the best!!! One point missing couse SVCD.

MP3 WMA CVD? $800 N/A 9 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Fine DVD player. This player play all kind of disks but something I have problems wiht DVD+RW playback. When I'm watching a movie on a DVD+RW after a hour it give problems after eject and start this problem is over for 10 mintus. It is not a laser problem because I have replaced it yesterday. So the 717 play DVD+RW with a little problem. The best disk to play your movies are the DVD-R.

In fact, using VCDs created from DVD2SVCD (build 1.1.0 + patch) as 16:9 anamorphic (3rd option in DVD2SVCD) play just fine, with excellent resolution on my 16:9 tv.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Successfully recognises DVD-R media by Apple, Verbatim, and Bulkpaq when burned with Ulead DVD MovieFactory. DVD-R discs burned with Nero (version 5.5.9.0) only work with good brand media (Verbatim, Apple) and sometimes freeze when searching. VCD compatibility is extremely good. Works with a huge range of CD-R media (branded and unbranded). I use Nero to make VCDs. Have not tested CD-RW or other DVD formats. Build quality is superb. My player was region-modified by the retailer and works with Region 1 and 2 discs.

CVD? $1000 N/A 9 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: I don't try DVD-R and DVD-RW but Pioneer say me that it works well. They tell me the SVCD don' t works on Pioneer DVD players. This player is a great player but it has 3 years hold now. it doesn't support the last standard (SVCD , MiniDVD, etc ).

CVD? $1000 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Generally the best of my players. I bought it codefree and it plays almost all DVDs that I tried ("My blue heaven" (Code 1) does not run, however). I lately played around with VCDs (made some with WinOnCD 3.8) and found that these VCDs do NOT work correctly (sound is miserable). I'm not sure if it's the plyer or the software that I used to make the VCDs. On my very cheap CyberHome player everything works fine... Any suggestions (of course it's out of guarantee)?

CVD? $1000 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Even though it's old, it's still a great player. There is a known bug in the older models (lipsynch), the later revisions (including the one I have) have this fixed. It does NOT play svcds, as most owners seem to agree. It's a riddle to me why some owners report it does, as SVCD is a standard - it should play it or not. It does play VCDs fine, even though it does not like cheap quality cdr's, and you can forget about fast forwarding and rewinding smoothly. As far as I know the hack posted here somewhere to disable regioncheck does not work either. You need to upgrade the firmware of the player. Some upgrades give you access to that specific menu, but NOT in a player you buy from a shop without mod.

These days it only accepts DVD's ... if I put in a CD or a VCD it doesn't recognize the format and opens back up...
