I have it since they came out 5 years ago, and was region free. plays DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW also CD-RW. But it doesn't play MP3. So i will give it 9 out of 10 because the MP3 format.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I have had this player for some years now. My main complaints are: - The 'deinterlace flag' isn't enabled for SVCD. This is probably because it detects SVCD/MPEG2 as VCD. (No deinterlacing for VCD needed) So if you have an interlaced SVCD then playback is unwatchable. (because of the interlacing) - Limited amount of CD-RW discs work. ('cheap/average' brands won't work.. but good brands like 'philips' will) - Removable subtitles do not work with SVCD. - Makes noise during playback, although i have my player fit into a small sideboard with a door. So i won't really hear it. :) Original DVD Media will work/read fine. (when the coating is not damaged ofcourse) During these years i have only had 1 DVD (Dogma R2) which refused to work/read at all. I have recently gotten myself a DVD+r burner, so i will write some lines about my experience: - All DVD+R 2.4x media which i have tested are working. From cheap (Ritek) to the expensive (Philips / Verbatim / Fuji) brands. - DVD+RW 2.4x works ok. Sometimes i notice a small 'hick-up'. This usually happens about 1 to 2x during a movie. But overall they work fine. I haven't tested any 4x DVD+R/W media. It is too expensive to buy atm. :) I want to give the Player a 7.5. Mainly because of the flaws described above. But since there is no 7.5 available i will round it to 8.0 It's a good player, if you are able to get it under $100 anywhere. (since they stopped producing them)

The only reason I've not rated it a 10 is because it is slightly noisy when playing discs which can interfere with the quieter movies.

Despues de cargarme varios dvd, lo consegui, en una hp200i con el firmware actualizado a 1.51 y aplicando la aplicacion de compatibilidad que hp tiene en su web, poniendo el modo de grabacion en modo 2. Hice los menus con el ulead dvd workshop y queme la imagen iso con el nero. Menos mal, no tengo que comprarme otro reproductor :))

N/A 7 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: My dv-535 has developed a will of it own .. After playing SVCD´s burned on cd-r media, my dvd goes crazy.. There is no problem playing the SVCD.. But when i want to play a CD record, (not burned) the dvd cant find th e record. The displays says "NO DISC", and trying to eject the tray, it goes just in and out... and then eventually the dvd shuts down... saying "-off-".. Is there anyone else that experienced this ?? I´ve sent the player to the repairshop..

This region will be tried first when playing a disk. Due to this design, the modification will work on the RCE (Regional Code Enhancement) protected DVD’s. In some cases it will be necessary to insert a conventional (non RCE protected) disc before playing a RCE protected disc. Follow the instructions as detailed bellow: 1. Turn the player on without a disc in it 2. On the remote control, press 'SETUP' 3. Use right arrow to select 'General' 4. Use down arrow to select 'Basic' 5. Press 'ENTER' on the remote control 6. Press 'Display' on the remote control You should see the region code and OSD version that the player is set to 7. Press 'Condition/Memory' 8. Press '1', '2', '3', '4', '5' or '6' to change the region code of the player The text will disappear 9. Press ' Display ' on the remote to control the region 10. Press 'SETUP' on the remote to exit. But now I have a problem. I want to burn SVCD to DVD-R. I have followed the guides on www.doom9.org and this site with no success. Every time I play the DVD-R in my Pioneer, I only have fraction of the picture on my TV. I have the hole height, but I don't have the width. There is a black box to rigth of the picture. Do any have fuld success with SVCD on DVD-R on the Pioneer DVD player. If yes what should I do to solve this ?

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: bought it two years ago fully hacked and it has worked without a blip. even disks that struggle on my computer ( lite-on dvd player and pioneer 105 recorder ) play without a hiccup.dvd-r done with dvdxcopy v 1.31 and dvd decrypter work fine. top marks. i also have a mustek 520 which so far has refused to play any.

N/A 9 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: This player has worked great for the last 2 years (got it in 2000) the only complaint I have so far is about the CD tray. A few months ago the damn thing developed a mind of its own....I press eject and the tray will come in and out, many times...I have to press eject, then turn of the power to insert a disc, then press power again, thus making the tray go inside again....Weird... It plays PAL discs, Region 1 and 4 DVDs with no problem.... Also, I have had no problem with VCDs until last night. I cannot play the first track of a 3 track VCD. I have tried the disc on a different DVD player (Daewo) and it played fine...I am suspecting my player needs a trip to the shop. Any suggestions? Thanks! Jorge

CVD? $250 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Excellent palyer, plays all VCD and SVCD I have thrown into it! Good picture and sound quality also!! Only slight minus is that the picture gets shifted towards the left side of the screen for VCD, very annoyingly chopping the first letter of the subtitles. Have anyone else this problem, and is there a fix for it? I use TMPGEnc and Nero 5.5 for burning my VCD.
