N/A 8 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: All is great but: 1. SVCD with lower bitrate than ~1800 are out of sync. For me it is a problem as many of mine are... 2. Fails to complete playing overburnt high capacity CDRs of 800MB and 900MB, ie stuck at last 5 minutes or so... Of course - all these run smoothly on my other non-brand cheap DVD player... :-(

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: one problem with SVCD is that it adds black bars at top and bottom of screen thus making the image "squished" while the same SVCD works perfectly on other DVD players.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Good looking player. Plays all VCD's DVD's SVCD's I have tried. Tested DVD+R & DVD+RW disks, works fine at least with 4,6&8MB VBR. Used Verbatim, Ricoh & Laser DVD+RW/+R Disks. Burnt rith Ricoh MP5125 burner using Ulead Movie Factory.

N/A 9 of 10 Comments: A great DVD player except for one flaw. Some of my SVCD's created with TMPEGenc & burnt with nero are out of synch:(. But they all play fine on my Hiteker AD-700

N/A No rating JPG/JPEG Comments: Overall good DVD player. The only problem I had was playing a rented DVD movies witch has some scratched surface. There was sometimes a visible digital frozen pixels during playback mode, its' suprise me, because it's Pioneer , and the twince laser pick, should not to do that. I play the same movie on Dv-440 and I didn't have the same problem Niro

CVD? $400 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Great player (and great site as well ;-)). I just wanted to add that the 533K model that I have does play perfectly Zone 1 and Zone 2 DVDs. Although the docs that came with the player state that it would not play any other zone than the one that is found on the real panel of the DVD player. I didn't have to do anything special, just inserted the DVD and it played. A friend of mine also tells that he tried Zone 3 and it works as well.

CVD? $175 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Great player over all. However I have had problems with some SVCDs playing only in black and white, I have tried all setting with no help. The same movie played fine in a friends Hitachi DV-P505 I was not happy. Other then the B&W problem it has played every thing I have put in it. Any ideas on the B&W problem? Yes I have switched between PAL and NTSC.

Just one problem I burnt a VCD using Easy CD Creator Platinum and it works fine on my PC DVD player but when I put it in this DVD, it recognises that it is a VCD but then it just stops and doesnt play it. All my attempts so far have failed. So if anyone has an idea on how to fix this problem then could you please contact me at the following email address

CVD? $179 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: I got this one after a painful experience with a Hatachi. This one is a god send. All the vcd's that I threw at it played! The hitachi played one out of 14, which made no sense because they are all on the same media. I like the menu setup and being able to switch from PAL to NTSC with realative ease. Got to watch the directions on that one though. It play all the vcd/svcd's that I had and had the best clarity that I have seen. I would recommend this one to anybody and it was only 10 bucks more than the Hitachi 315u. The menus are good and the screensaver is cool. I will try dvd-r/w when I return to the states and give you a better low down on subtitles on xvcd/xsvcd with bitrates to boot.

CVD? $270 N/A 9 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: Excellent player, before I bought the Pioneer DV-533K player after I compared it with 2 players from Philips and One from JVC, non of them could compete. It plays almost all standards and formats w/o problem, except Compact/mini DVD which doesn't work. I have tried Touchmate CD-RW80, Sony CD-R 650 and Maxell CD-R74 on all videos and MP3's w/o problems. Works both with MP3's in the root directory and individual libraries. Using Ulead DVD MovieFactory with its start menus, music and own backgrounds for the videos it works great except that the menu format in SVCD makes the picture/menu oversized on the TV. Tried out with success both TMPGEnc and Ulead DVD MediaStudio 6.5 as encoders and Nero and WinOnCD 3.8 Power Edition as burners, no problem. Haven't tried the WinOnCD slide show yet, next time. What's missing from my old DVD player is the Zoom function when watching DVD movies, that's why only 9 out of 10 points. All in all a great player with "very" fast access time when loading the movie and it's sound capabilities and last but not least the acceptance of all Video formats and MP3 as bonus.

One small annoying problem, the stop/resume function does not seem to work with SVCD, it works fine with VCD and DVD, but I could not get it to resume on SVCD. Anyone else has experienced this problem and if so, is there a fix to this or am i doing something wrong. Thx, Maya
