Plays most things that I throw at it. Mine was already Region Free form the shop.
very impressed with the +DL playing. It instantly picked it up, much quicker than +R or -R pickup and paled perfectly. Now layer transition was visable!!!
On the down side:
1) Does not play JPG but I was never under the impression that it did.
2) Does not play any old copy. I do not know when it was able to play but it will not play backups that were burned with "DVD Backup" (blast from the past) or older versions of Nero 5.something. All backups done with Nero 6 and above seem to work OK. I'm still testing all of my disks.

Good player that reads quite a lot of format and medias
I only found some strange noise when loading some CDs that should have some planar issue.
I global, this DVD reader supports all the burnt media I tried in.
MP3 ergonomy is not perfect, it requires the TV on and some manipulations to listen to the right tracks.
It's getting a little bit old now due to the fact that it can't read WMA, JPG and DivX but depending on needs, this could be a good choice for a low cost reader that supports all kind of media. |

| Great player, has played everything I've so far put in it. Currently using it for DVD-Rs, the Bulkpaq Orange ones which play flawlessly, cheap as chips at SVP. Only downside is the 'laggy' remote control which has been noted before. Picture quality is very good though. It's very slim and looks good. |

Hi!
This Player has played every media that i put in it.
Today i tested Nero 5.5.10.54 and DVD Shrink23 with NEC ND-1300A and burned DVD-RW (Verbatim DataLifePlus 2x, 4,7 GB) and DVD+RW (Intenso 4,7 GB). There were now problems at all to play both media on the Pioneer dv-350.
Sorry for this bad english from germany...
It plays MVCD, too !!!

Disappointed that Mini-DVD didn't work.
Audio wasn't anything special.
The killer though, and why I returned it,
was that it was VERY sensitive to scratches etc.
My old Shinco (which I thought was fussy in its
latter years) did much better.

| Great player, but not as good as the older dv-530. The older player seems to handle discs better. I have had a few discs burnt by different programs and on different media that will "block up" on the 350, when I try them on the 530, they are always fine???? This problem is quite rare (about 1 in every 50) but still anoying. I also had this problem with the dv-444. This is the third pioneer that I have owned, and found that the older 530 has been the best player. |

The player play these format fine. CVD play with more resolutions. NTSC format VCD play my old (10 year) ORION TV with NTSC play adjustment (read the reference book).16:9 movie play to 4:3 TV with player LeterBox or 16:9 video mode (probably these setup).
Good player, but the time over the top. The modern players is more functions. |

This DVD player sometimes has a problem playing SVCD's, in fact it's not a problem but only a setting. Here is an easy way to fix it..
To fix the SVCD 4:3 to 16:9 pan problem:
When no disc is playing press the setup button on the DVD remote, goto Initial Settings -> Video Output -> Tv Screen -> set to 4:3 (Pan&Scan).
(You might have to set it back to 4:3 Letterbox or 16:9 when watching other discs.)
This worked for me, no VCD header trick nessesary! |

I love this player its totally worth £100 and plays all regional dvds, dvd-r,vcds and mp3. I could test svcd, dvd-audio and all the other formats but i dont bloody care. I bought it for one purpose to play all dvds with reliability and so far i am not disapponted.

I brought a samsung dvd 807 in 1999 then after 2 years playing loads of dvds on it, The goddamn piece of shit did not want to play any dual layer dvds.
So i was spectical of buying a new dvd that fitted my purpose but now after looking into it a £100 was goddamn worth it on the pioneer 350-s. I made sure i did not go into one of crappy high street electronic stores to buy my dvd becoz these dodgy stores rip you off in the technical side and uk tax on a dvd player.

I looked on the internet this time for a dvd player and found techtronics suppliers in the uk which enabled dvd region free on dv 350 and it was their top selling dvd player. So i took a chance and boy it paid off. I could of payed more for macrovision but i am not going to record to my vcr with dvds... dah.
I found the dvdhelp site helpful but was not sure of this player because there was some negative views in some forums becoz it drove me in circles buying a dvd player. Now i know the best thing is just look for top dvd store with experts service and support the backup the research info by talking to them on the phone.

I recorded a vcd 1 and 2, mp3 and dvd-r and they all played excellento.
I played region 1 and 2 dvd discs, no problemo.
The sound is powerful on this fucking machine DTS, Tru-surround, Dolby Digital and the picture was the sharp and clear cut, both sound and picture was a big improvement compared to my old samsung dvd 807.
One dvd i tested was a US version of the matrix so i skipped straight to the first fight scence and there was no frame rate lost or clichtes. Then played it before the layer change on the disc and i could not tell there was a layer change.The laser is fast on this awesome player.
Forwarding and skipping to next chapters is really quick.
On my samsung i notice all the bugs with matrix dvd before it died. Now i am going to take it to samsung UK and leave it in front of their building as a return policy.

I like it but i'm dissapointed that my tv displays everything displaced to the left. I've heard that other people have the problem, too and it would be caused by anything with the RGB-Output or S-Video.
And it's circumstantial to change PAL and NTSC but if it doesn't do that automatical NTSC-Movies (I life in Europe) are played in black&white!
Otherwise, it plays nearly EVERSTHING I put in! :-) |

| Picture and sound are really great on this player but... doesn't play DVD-RWs i burned using my Pioneer A03 burner with Pioneer supplied burning software (Instant CD/DVD) ! Those DVD-RWs played fine however in my Sony 305 and even in Playstation 2... I had to rewrite those DVD-RWs using Nero 5.5.9.9 to have them played by the Pioneer 350 ! Also it has problems reading cheap CD-RWs and cheap DVD-Rs, when it reaches the end of a movie, you get some bugs... In my opinion it doesn't play well SVCD since it always switches to 16/9 widescreen mode when playing them and this sucks since i do own a widescreen TV and i have to trick it to reformat the picture every time i watch a SVCD with this player ! And finally the remote control is really a piece of crap !! My other player is a Sony 305 and it is LOT better than the Pioneer 350 ! |

So far so good bought this player on recommendation . Got a price math from Richer Sounds so £99.95 all in multi region as well.
One question I have is that when you play discs you can hear the player spinning up whereas my old LG one was very silent.
Do they all do this or is mine a faulty one?

Also it plays DVD-R and DVD+RW fine on the ones I tested.

Worked with all my dvd-r and dvd+r media, burned on a Sony DRU500AX.
Used:
Ritek G04 4x
Nanya 2x
Bulkpaq +r 2.4x (bad media, many coasters)
FWS +r 2.4x
Not a bad multiregion player at £100 if you are after good dvd-+r compatibility. |
