N/A 9 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Hi! I entered a vote for this player in the list about two years ago. Now it is still working fine and I have no negativ comments. The only thing is problems in playing some CD-R SVCDs that I made about one year ago, especially on Intenso- and Platinum-Media, which are to get in Germany. Think that´s a problem of the media quality. After buying a DVD+ Burner Ricoh MP5240A two weeks ago I can add new infos. The player works fine with selfmade DVD +R on the media and brands which are produced by RicohJpn. Might be some problems with Intenso DVD R+ again because some are working others don´t. I like this player and hope it will work for some years more.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I bought it 1 year ago thanks to all tose feedbacks. I'm very happy with it (especially because it supports VCD and SVCD both with chapters). One strange thing: it is a european model (zone 2) but I can play zone 1 dvds! I once applied the hack found on that site and thought it sisn't work. Maybe it did indeed!

N/A No rating Comments: Keeps giving a PBC Play when I try to put in a VCD. It seems to choose the media it plays. Very wierd, not all CDRs work.

N/A 10 of 10 Comments: my second dvd player, my first was a sony that you had to have a degree in quantum mechanics to get the hack to work if you wanted to play svcd's. this one tho.... it has played everything i threw at it....the cheapest, nastiest cdr's no problem, even my wife's Sound of Music....!!! worse luck!!! gonna try a soggy beer-mat later see what it makes of that. the only fault.... Macrovision BUGGER!!!

MP3 WMA CVD? $150 N/A 9 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: My first dvd player and after spending hours on vcd help looking through reviews and pricing them up in range £90-£150 i decided on this player as i didnt need mp3 playback (thats what my pcs for ;) )and it does what it says on the tin so to speak plays all my vcds,svcds,dvd(duh) picture quality is remarkable on the vcds i used to play on my tv out cable from my graphics card very impressive cost me £109.99 (empiredirect.co.uk)was looking at the 444 which was another £50-£70 more expensive but yes it did look better and played mp3s but i read that its the same virtually inside as the 340 hence i saved my pennies and got this its quite a big player but i aint bothered about that cos i wanted it for vcds and svcds,and feels very solid its about the size of a standard video player.It hasnt once grumbled at any of the cheap silver blue,or other white topped cheap cdrs which i get for £16 for 100,if ur not bothered about the size of the thing and just quality of play back i recommend this player as its well worth the cash (in my opinion)compared to the other inferior players in this price bracket i looked at and its a well known brand,ive never had a dvd player before but all i know is the pictures are bright and clear on the vcds that looked faded out and blocky on my tv out set up from my radeon 8500.Sadly it didnt play a test vcd on cd-rw but it doesnt say it will but it did the audio test cd.Havent tested on dvdr or dvdrw yet but will soon as i get chance.Also thanks to all the other guys who posted reviews they were very help full.

Here is how: * They have this price promise where they will match any competitors price as long as it is in stock and ready to ship. * They will also give you £10 off with products up to £375. Here is what to do: Go to the url below where the company is selling the same player for £125 and print the page out: http://www.kingdom88.com/bos/listings/606.html Now take the printout with contact phone number to your nearest Riceher Sounds (preferably in London as they have a 75 mile limit) and demand this excellent player for £115. Just make sure both shops have them in store before going down there. Hurry as Richer Sounds might decrease the price to of this player to £125 so no-one can do the above.

CVD? $50 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Found it at Walmart for 50 Dollars in Michigan. It would not play DVD+RW'S Burned with NERO but works fine with ULEAD video studio and Ulead Movie Factory. I found the problem with NERO is it dosen't burn 100% compatable DVDs. I did find that RecordNow from Stomp works better in this player and Stomps software only cost 49.99 at any bestbuy or compusa. It even burns DVD with little effort. It play all my VCD's and SVCD's.

CVD? $290 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: This player is very, very slow when changing tracks on an SVCD. It makes a half a second gap between every chapter, very anoying. Plays overburned cd's. Makes a lot of noise. Easy to make region free.

The only problem i have had is that the region hack does not work. Very pleased with this purchase

CVD? $140 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: i too bought this at costco for only $199 CAN awhile ago. it plays my svcds (with animated menus, chapters et all) very well, as well as all vcds i've tried. it has s-video and component video out, but only digital audio out (no optical). the only problem i've found with it is that it's a little funky displaying 16:9 anamorphic MENUS. it's quite odd actually. with my gladiator dvd, the sides of the menu (which happens to be 16:9 anamorphic) is significantly cut off [i compared it to when playing the menu on my dvd-rom with powerdvd]. this is even when i set the dvd-player's setup to all of "16:9 widescreen" "4:3 letterbox" and "4:3 pan and scan", so it has nothing to do with the settings, but the player itself. but other than that small glitch (most dvdmenus aren't 16:9 anamorphic anyways), this player is fantastic, and i've never had any other problems with it.

CVD? $140 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: I am very happy with this player. I use it for mainly for DVDs & my SVCDs (single audio track, with chapters), and have had no problems yet. IT PLAYS AWESOME! I Paid $210 Canadian at Costco. The only disappointment I have is that even though there is coaxial digital-audio out, there is no optical digital-audio out. But with that price you can’t complain, it is well worth it!!!

CVD? $140 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: This little gem cost me £140 it will play all my homemade vcd and svcds I found it has superb compatability bit of a crappy remote though but for the money i cant complain. The cd drawer does sound a little noisey and the machine doesnt appear to be as solid as my panasonic. But playback is better and so is sound quality. Buy one now and ensure hassle free burning.

CVD? $140 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: this is a must buy machine for any one into making their own vcds (bought it at richer sounds glasgow for 150.00), so far it has played every vcd, svcd i have burned (using tmpegenc and burning with nero) its small and looks nice. my only problem with it is the fast forward is a wee bit on the slow side

I got the box home, plugged the power lead and scart lead in, then placed a VCD I had burned a while ago into it (used Nero to burn the VCD, on an Imation CD-R 24x 80min CD), pressed play and away it went, worked absolutely perfectly. To anyone that is buying there first DVD player, and wants to view Home-burnt VCD's, I cannot reccomend this product high enough, and I would like to thank all those people that posted on here before reccomending this product, you have helped me make an excellent choice.

CVD? $200 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: After choosing this on the basis of reports on this site, I've not been disappointed (at £149 from Richer Sounds). Happily plays all VCDs and SVCDs I have tried on it, on various CD-R and RW brands (mainly Maxell and Emtec) mainly burnt with Fireburner or Nero. So, no problems at all, but there are some things I haven't yet tried.

The burn with NERO was bad.

CVD? $140 N/A 7 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: I just bought this player at Costco @ $210 Canadian dollars (approx. $140US). Good player. It plays my homemade VCD made out of Ulead Movie Factory. It plays regular VCD with no problem. Originally I want to get the Pioneer DV343 but I can't find any. At last, DV340 and DV343 are just different by color of Black vs Silver. No comparison to my Zenith DVC2200 which can play DVD movie only. But it is a bit pricy compare to APEX AD1500.
