So far no problems. The documentation advertises:

Will play Kodak PictureCD, CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, Audio and Video CD.
Will play MP3&WMA all bitrates, no VBR, no WMA Lossless, will not play DRM, needs standard file extensions (MP3,WMA).
Will display JPEG, non-progressive, .JPG extension.
Supports ISO9660, Mode1,2 XA Form1, Romeo and Joliet.
No Multi-Session or Unfinalized disc playback.
Filestructure is 299 folders, 648 folders and files within.
Will NOT play WMA/MP3/JPG on DVD-R/RW.
Screenshots from documentation indicate a Windows-like file-browsing interface called Disc Navigator.
Random/Repeat/Program play does not work with MP3/WMA.
Remote is pretty nice but simple, is confusing when used with a Pioneer receiver remote (I purchased my DVD player as part of a home-theatre package. Have not yet programmed universal remote).
Supports DRC (Dynamic Range Control) which pretty much normalizes the audio range so loud peaks are eliminated with quiet sources, only works with Dolby.
Average range of video adjustments for sharpness, brightness, contrast, gamma, hue and chroma.
Overall acceptable range of features.

My Experiences:
So far I've liked this player. Stuck one copied (from my own library, I don't play originals) DVD-R in it worked perfectly. Some minor skipping occurred at one point but it's done that on every player so I think the disc is bad.
The player does have a bit of a pause in between layer changes (when the disc goes from the top layer to the bottom layer playing dual-layer discs for longer length) but it isn't significant to affect my enjoyment, YMMV.
Player itself is very sleek, nice output display with good time reading. Controls respond near-instantly, better than one I used with an almost 1 second response time.

An MP3 CD-R burned some time ago and a bit scratched up worked pretty well, haven't tested VBR MP3s yet to see if the documentation is telling the truth.
If one begins playing an MP3 disc without navigating to a specific folder, it plays them in a seemingly odd order, though not random.
Further examination revealed that the system's organizational system is annoyingly complex and not quite obvious to human logic, though to programming and structure logic it is very well built. I will sum it up as such:
The entire play order is organized just as the directory structure's tree system is organized. The root is at the top, then the next level are all directories located in the root, alphabetically from left to right. The next level consists of all the directories inside those directories, alphabetically from left to right. Continue through all the levels necessary.
Thus the songs are played from the top down, left to right, alphabetically within those directories.
Those songs in the root directory are played first, then the songs right in the first directory (sorted alphabetically), then the songs right in the second directory, repeat repeat. Then it plays the songs in the first subdirectory in the first directory.

A neat feature is that if you are playing in this method, hitting the 'Display' button turns on an on screen display of time elapsed, remaining, total, the actual filename, and will even show the file name on the LCD display, which is kind of neat if you don't have the TV on. Lacking ID3 tag decoding is quite a disappointment though.

Haven't tested DVD+R discs yet either, no idea if they work as previous review states.
Will update this at another time.

Comments:
Found it at Ultimate Electronics, seems like no one else carries Pioneer brand here. Which is sad considering they seem to be the most durable brand!

Anyhow, the sales rep told me this thing would not play DVD+R, and I was okay with that. But I had a few DVD+R around and tried them out... well, this little player plays them just fine. It plays all my DVD-R's, most are Legacy (cheap printables from NewEgg) but some are Verbatims and the DVD+R were Verbatim DataLifes. It plays MP3s and does the JPG thing as well, but though I tested those features I don't usually use them.

The GUI is pretty simple, not a whole lot of features but it gets the job done, it's less than a hundred bucks, and with the name "Pioneer" I expect it to last longer than my old player.

Would have rated it "10" if it could play DivX or XviD for me.
