Successfully plays NTSC SVCD's (480x480 pixels, 29.97 fps) on a PAL TV, but you have to select "NTSC" or "Multi" as TV type to avoid jerkiness.

| Comments: |
WMA support:
Only WMA files with constant bit rates have been tested, because I don't have files with variable bit rates:
- 64 kbps CBR, 44.1 kHz, stereo ==> ok
- 128 kbps CBR, 44.1 kHz, stereo ==> ok
MP2 support:
Besides MP3 and WMA, the player also plays MPEG 1.0 Layer 2 audio files.
XVCD support:
The player detects XVCD's as VCD's, but plays them much too slow (audio speed is ok). The following bitrates have been tested without success:
- 3000 kbps CBR video (720x576 pixels), 224 kbps audio ==> jerky
- 2000 kbps CBR video (720x576 pixels), 224 kbps audio ==> jerky
- 3000 kbps CBR video (352x288 pixels), 224 kbps audio ==> jerky
- 2000 kbps CBR video (352x288 pixels), 224 kbps audio ==> jerky
XSVCD support:
This player plays XSVCDs with up to 5100 kbps video without problems. If the bitrate is higher, the playback becomes jerky. The following formats have been tested:
- 300-7000 kbps (avg = 5000 kbps) VBR video (480x576 pixels), 160 kbps audio ==> jerky if bitrate > 5100 kbps for more than about 1 second
- 6000 kbps CBR video (480x576 pixels), 192 kbps audio ==> jerky
- 5340 kbps CBR video (480x576 pixels), 160 kbps audio ==> jerky (occasional)
- 5100 kbps CBR video (480x576 pixels), 192 kbps audio ==> ok
- 5000 kbps CBR video (480x576 pixels), 192 kbps audio ==> ok
- 5000 kbps CBR video (720x576 pixels), 192 kbps audio track 1, 192 kbps audio track 2 ==> ok
SVCD subtitle support:
Unfortunately, this player does not support selectable SVCD nor CVD subtitles.

- Verbatim DVD+RW (burnt on Ricoh rewriter)
- Panasonic DVD-R (burnt with Nero on SONY writer)
Successfully plays all MP3 file formats I've tested so far:
- 192 kbps, CBR, 44.1 kHz, stereo
- 224 kbps, CBR, 44.1 kHz, stereo
- 320 kbps, CBR, 44.1 kHz, joint stereo
- 148-215 kbps, VBR, 44.1 kHz, joint stereo
Pros:
- Probably plays almost all media
- MP3 playback
- JPEG playback (including thumbnail preview and mirroring/flipping and auto-zoom)
- MPEG video playback from ISO Mode 1 CD's
- Built-in AC3 decoder
- 3 connection types for speakers (optical, coaxial and 6-cinch)
- Manual says code free, but untested (back of device shows code 2 logo)
- Many functions on remote control (including eject and volume control)
- Good shape of remote control
- Silent operation
- Slim design
- Automatically activates PBC if a SVCD is inserted
- Fast forward/rewind speeds: 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x
- Zoom levels: 1:4, 1:3, 1:2, 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1
- Very low price
Cons:
- Has no real power off button (only standby button ==> 3.5W power consumption).
- Remote control must be precisely directed to device to work
- Only 11 letters of file names displayed
- A few cosmetic bugs with German on-screen texts (but nothing to worry about)
- Color or brightness not adjustable (but is perfect for my TV)
(Seems to have an ESS chip.)
