| Comments: |
| Does not play all MPEG4 encoded files, like NERO, even it is mentioned in the specifications. Many cheaper players play all MPEG4 encoded files and more. Philips refuses to change the firmware. Comparing to the price this player does not give value for money. If I knew before I had chosen another cheap player. |

It seems the same as Philips DVP5500, just in black case. Actually it did play everything I have tried on it.
Small minus - does not display SVCD subtitles (CVD format at least).
I did not mark DivX switchable subtitles, since I am not sure what is that, but I can watch DivX/Xvid with external subtitles in several formats. I did try .SRT. Player does not interpret format tags ir .SRT subtitles - they are just displayed (like <i>, which means "italics" is displayed on screen as "<i>").
Otherwise - perfect player.
Region free is the same as for DVP5500.
Chipset seems to be Mediatek MT(something), but I have not tried any non standard firmwares, since I shall lose warrany than. |
