MP3 WMA CVD? $250 180 days 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DVD-WMA MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Sometimes the software freezes. Solution: unplug it from the power outlet. The problem appeared something like twice a month. I've used it a lot. I'm recording from TV on a daily basis. Also I've copied all my VHS recordings and the quality & sound is superb (in SP mode 2hr/dvd). I'm always using DVD+RW for the editing purposes, and after editing the disc I'm copying it with a DVD Writer on my computer. It has firewire which is absolutely superb, the quality is outstanding when you copy from a camera that supports firewire. Absolutely no loss in quality. And you'll get the date/time function enabled as a subtitle on the dvd. All in all is a great machine, the price was right, it is easy to use. The new machines don't have much better quality, only a few gadgets. The Panasonic with it's timeslip function is much expensive and the dvd-ram media is absolutely prohibitive! A DVD+RW is now between 1$ and 3$. A DVD+R is between 0,5 and 2$. A DVD-RAM is between 10 and 20$ You decide... The only thing I regret is that I've bought a Panasonic VCR (NV-FJ632 4 head 3 speed) one year ago & I spent on it aprox.300$. The Philips DVDR 990 cost me 250$...

N/A No rating Comments: I use this recorder now for one year. I think it is not a stable machine. As DVD's I use labels like: philips, Sentinel, Platimum and Nashua, at all this DVD's the recorder says during a recording session: disc error. What's happening??? Philips says, you must first formatting the disc. then the problem is over, that is not true, there is no optie in the system menu for formatting. I use mostly DVD+rw 's

N/A 10 of 10 Comments: Nice machine, download the update at Philips.com. Sometimes the DVDR has got a problem with reading DVD's other than Philips and written on a PC. Not always. Writing is no problem. I had a problem once with a DVD+RW (philips) on this machine which was suddenly empty ! Let me know your experience.
