Rarely fails to play Xvid but plays any DivX without any problems. Firmware upgrade is easy and firmwares can easily be found through the internet.

CVD? $70 over 1 year 10 of 10 DVD-MP3 DivX XviD Comments: I can't comment on the competition. This was one of the first DIVX DVD players available and I found it online somewhere for $50 to $70 if I can remember correct. In short - this player has played 97% of everything I have thrown at it. I downloaded Battlestar Galatica and that would not play unfortunately (none of the episodes). Aside from that, everything else I have plays and plays on any media I throw at it! Granted I use this player on my bedroom's 20 inch, standard television. However, for that it works great. For my 56 inch television in my living room I need an upconverting DVD player though! Negatives: The remote is confusing and without light on you can easily hit "skip" instead of "fast forward"! Also, sometimes when it's really quiet I can hear the player slightly tick, tick when playing. It's skip is fairly loud as a "eweesh, eweesh". Positives: I bought this thing for so cheap (about $50 or $60) and would not consider changing with a newer player - even if the newer player cost $10.00! The only reason I might upgrade is to watch the missed episodes of Battlestar Galactica - but even then I expect any newer player to have some other problem!

Does not Read DVD-R of POWERDISK brand. Reproduces DVD-R Blue Media very well. Excelent DVD Player, recommended.
