| the piece was in warranty and philips didnot take care of it. only once did the personal come from philips and gave me some crap that the cd was bad while the same cd played on my sony gn90d without a flaw. the company sucks..the dvds,mp3s play well...but when it comes to audio cds and vcds it sucks. i dont think it was a player that plays everything...the better add should be it plays nothing. |

Bought this in the UK from Argos for £50 and it was £50 well spent. It plays everything that I have thrown at it so far and I intend to test it to the limit some day. I created a DVD disc packed full to the brim with mp3 files burnt straight onto the disc with no autoring and it didnt like it. But burn them in folders, I used 20 folders and filled them with mp3s and it played them all although I had to use the folder browser to access all the songs. Easir to burn them onto a DVD disc than use 4 or 5 CDR's Dont know if it takes DVD+-RW yet but I will give it a go someday. I always use the cheap cdr's as I am a skinflint and hate spending money, but every cheap disc I have burned has worked fine. For the price of this player I would recommend it to anyone.

I am having audio sync problems while playing certain DVDs. The time difference between audio and video is at times a whopping 10 seconds. Surprisingly the DVDs causing the problem play perfectly fine on a DVD ROM drive on a PC and also Samsung E-128A player.
Can any one help me with a solution? |

I am again surprise with this player
Today a play ( mpeg-iso) , vcd and svcd
Mpeg 1 480X480 4000bitrate max
Mpeg 1 720X480 4000 bitrate max
I never imagine that this formats exist!!!!
It plays dvd-iso too, but you have to burn entire disk
No multisession
When you try mp3-dvd sometimes shutdown and only return
when you turn off the power cord
Another problem is mpeg 2
Good image only if bitrate is 2200 max
All this files were converted from vob files using dvd2avi and Tmpgenc

I bought this DVD Player from Boots at a excellent price of £50 or $88 It is a very nice slimline DVD player and it plays all my backups on a selection of media(mainly DVD-R).The multi region hack works fine and is very simple to do.

region hack worked fine, 10sec of work geezzzz.
Tried everything I had even a data dvd with vob/info etc files worked....no problem reading
Used Nashua DVD+RW burned with Nero/DVD shrink and also cloneDVD and Alcohol 120%.
As DVD+R I use Ricoh disks for the VCD's, SVCD's, SKVCD, MP3 & JPEG I used various, Philips, Silverblue nameless, Nashua, Platinum whatever |

| Bought this player 2 days ago for NZ$220 and everything is great about it. Plays my home videos which were recorded on DVD better that the DVD recorder itself. Extremely small and easy to fit anywhere. Only complaints are that the remote has tiny buttons on it which could be hard to see for some people (unless you don’t mind small remotes) and the subtitles option seems to always be on and you have to turn it off every time you watch a movie. Other than those problems, very good value for money. |

I've tried several CD-R Media and they all worked fine.
But when I try DVD+R(W) media I always get a "unsupported disc" (DVD+R) or a "no disc" (DVD+RW)
(Media is Verbatim DataLife Plus 4x / 2,4x certified)
Both Discs work fine on my Sony DVP-S335 !!!
After that I tried DVD-R(W) both cheap medias from a cakebox (skymedia / memorex) and they worked fine!
Overall a nice player with only 5cm in height. (Fits everywhere ;-) |

Seu sistema de leitura é bem forte, se portando da mesma maneira que um leitor de PC, ou seja, roda tudo, desde CD-R até DVD-R (gravados com o DVD LG 4040b). Tem a grande vantagem de ler Isos de MPEG1/2, ou seja, não precisa se estressar convertendo vídeos para VCD/SVCD, pois ele roda nativamente estes formatos. Baixou videoclips do KaZaA? Só põem num CD e coloca neste Philips que ele vai ler tranquilo. Excelente mesmo, pode confiar. |

Very good entry level dvd.Very simple, good menu,it read without problems any kind of my dvd-r (also the dvds burning with Nero in UDF 1.02 mode, unreadable by my past Samsung 232), instantly remote hack (open/close - 9 - 9 - 9 - 9 - 0 - wait a moment - open/close)tried with zone 1 and 3 dvd (and a Sony multistandard tv, so I don't know if the player can convert signal between pal and ntsc).
He doesn't have optical audio (coaxial works very well) and no s-video so I give it only an 8.

| I've got it to played VCD, SVCD, CD-R, CDRW, DVD, JPEG, MP3. However the machine has quite noisy when it spins a CD. Also in common with somebody else who has posted here I have experienced random clicks in normal CD audio media even though CD's are clean and free from dust and scratches. Apart from these two gripes a nice little machine that can be obtained at Argos for £89.99. |

cuando uno reproduce dvd-mp3 el equipo se apaga despues de un tiempo de reproduccion o cuando uno esta adelantando las canciones , hay un comentario anterior a este que trata lo mismo. es el unico "pero" que le pongo , fuera de eso , el equipo reproduce todos los formatos de dvd grabados. dvd+-r y dvd +-rw. excelente calidad de audio y video.
