CVD? $? over 1 year 8 of 10 Comments: Good system. TV and movies sound great. The only drawbacks are that it is several years old, and as a result it has minimal compatibility with writable media. I can report that it played every vcd I threw at it, as well as dvd+r discs with the RICOHJPNR01 manufacturer ID. It supposedly can play SOME dvd-r discs but only discs with a limited list of manufacturer IDs. A couple examples of DVD+R compatible with this system are: Sony 4x DVD+R with ID RICOHJPNR01 Imation 4x DVD+R with ID RICOHJPNR01

CVD? $300 N/A 3 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Plays regular DVDs ok.. takes a looong time to start up though. I recently bought a DVD burner, so I'll be trying out the different formats. I did get my first DVD+RW to work. It took a long time for it to finally recognize the disk, but eventually did start. This was on TDK media. However, my second burn to the same disk did NOT work. Oddly enough, I have not tried my Memorex DVD+R media yet. I'm hoping it will work, since I bought my burner to put all my home movies on it. I'm assuming it will, given the other feedback in this forum. Also, note that CD-R and RW disks have stopped working in this device. When I first got the unit, they seemed to play, but now I can't get a store bought CD to even play in the drive!

N/A No rating JPG/JPEG Comments: I have tried many times to play DVD-R's after reading this page to no avail. DVD+R's work fine. I looked at my manual to discover that it specifically says that DVD-R's won't work with this player. It also goes on to say that DVD+RW, DVD-RW also won't work.

CVD? $300 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Tested DVD-R (Memorex) and it works. DVD-R authored and *finalized* by a friend using Premiere 6.0. When playing VCDs, jerky video/audio was found to be attributed to MPEGs having slight errors which are almost unnoticeable when viewed using a computer. Decoder seems to be not so forgiving. Proper encoding (error-free) solved the problem. VCD media tested: Memorex CDR for audio, Verbatim CDR/CD-RW DataLifePlus, TDK Black-CDR for computer burning (yes, instead of silvery bottom it is tinted black) and generic (compusa) CDR. The last two are sometimes prone to skipping/pausing, probably due to reflectivity issues-- this is intermittent, reloading the disk sometimes solves this. My player must just be dusty :-).

CVD? $300 N/A 7 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Thsi player plays all my VCDs and XVCDs fine. Does perfect photo albums with music ans menus wuth Ulead PictureShow. It will play and SVCD MPEG2, but seems to skip every second throught out the entire film. Plays MP3 perfectly.
