CVD? $? over 1 year No rating JPG/JPEG Comments: Ok, so I'm confused. Just update the firmware to the latest one, but still got the same problem. I've burned several DVD+R DL, with 3 diferent dvd recorders (LG, Sony and Matshushita), and I keep having the following problem: I insert the DVD, it starts playing, goes to the menu. I select "start" ou "play movie", or I goe to the chapters menu and choose a chapter and.... it just goes back to the menu.. It never goes to the movie.. I've burned them with Nero. If you guys say it plays +R DL then.. what am I doin' wrong????

Since i changed the motor, there were no H02 errors. But now the player can't play the DVD's. No matter the original or copyed DVD, it just says it cannot play this kind of disc. I think the laser went down and this really sucks. Let me say that it plays CD-R's and CD-RW's fine. Compared to Philips DVP-3010 it has much better picture quality. Panasonic has 54Mhz/10 bit DAC and Philips has 108MHz/12 bit DAC and still Panasonic had better picture in DVD mode than Philips. Weird. Anyway, S35 is slowly dying on me. Too bad, nobody makes a good piece of electronics nowadays.

Anybody knows if that player have any code to make PAL discs playable in full color?. Thanks a lot.

Is there anyway for me to fix this problem? Maybe if clean it using alcohol o something like that? Thanks.

As usual developed that H02 no disk error wen loading any media. To fix as stated by others, open the cover. Run a disk, give the disk a little push in the clockwise direction and bingo, no more H02 error.

CVD? $80 over 1 year 8 of 10 DivX XviD DVD-RAM Comments: I've had this player for just over a year, and so far it works fine, and plays all my written DVD's great. The only thing I can stress is with the DVD+R DL discs, you MUST booktype them to DVD-ROM or it will freeze trying to play the second layer. But that's not just this player, many players won't play them correctly unless they're booktyped to DVD-ROM. Also, to the person who says it won't play discs made with Nero Recode 2, it works fine for me using version 2.2.6.17. I use an LG 4167 and an NEC 3540 to write my discs, and I use Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden blanks. I have no problems whatsoever playing any of these discs. The only time I've ever had problems was when using Intervideo DVD Copy 4, but many other players had problems with those discs as well, since I found out DVD Copy does not recode the menu's to proper DVD standards, go figure.

CVD? $40 1 days 8 of 10 Comments: bought off ebay for 40 dollars including shipping! had h02 display so i removed the cover and gave the disc a gentle spin clockwise(thanks for the info from helpful people on this sight). now it plays fine...thanks! i tested dvd+r dvd+rw cdr and all play good. i dont know how to shut of the bit rate display that shows when i play all dvds as no manual was included and ive had it only an hour or two.can someone please advise how to turn off(THANKS in advance). i like this websight and i hope ths info helps somebody out there. god bless

I took Miguel_Cerca's advice below, and took off the cover, inserted a disk, then gave the disk a little spin, and it started operating again. Currently, the player is functioning normally.

Ended playing in the middle of an action movie. Display says: 0.... and goes on searching. After about one minute: noPlay and player stops. TV screen: insert other disc. Only plays cd-audio sometimes with all functions, amazing device. Cleaning and checking no result. This was a nice player!

However, if you encode anything with Recode 2, you'd better look for another player as this one just fails miserably whether you use DVD-R or DVD+R discs. When I use Shrink, I have no problems playing what I've encoded. Plays Princo, Verbatim, Ridata without problems. Sadly, I have to go out and get another player. I tried my father's Yamakawa and it played my problem DVD discs encoded with Recode 2. In the end, if you're looking for a player the does it ALL, look elsewhere.

CVD? $100 over 1 year 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: Obviously Panasonic has some quality control issues with this player. I bought this player Duty free for a Christmas present, coming into NZ, having researched a player that would play most formats and would be region free. Taking it out of the box, the player wasn't even assembled properly! THe front panel was forced into slots but missed by a few milimetres, resulting in a warped front panel. THe duty free shop would not, initially either swap the unit for replacement or give a refund, instead asking me to take the unit to Panasonic repair shop, a day before christmas and wait for it to be fixed! Anyway, after causing a scene in the shop, I duly obtained a replacement which has been good. Video and audio quality excellent. JPEG playback excellent, love the slide show which is great for Jpegs burnt from a digital onto cd. Plays Dual Layer +R DL's burnt on a LG 4163B Burner (Excellent burner) Haven't used this player much as it has been replaced by a DVD recorder (ES10 model..see my seperate review of it). Moral of the story, is that when purchasing anything I always ask what the stores policy is should the unit be faulty out of the box. Interestingly about half the stores expect the purchaser to wait for it to be fixed( I find this poor, why should the purchaser be responsible to fix a brand new product?) So now I always test the product in the shop before purchasing to test for any basic faults.

I had only a few problems with it, but it works fine, and we have a 2 years warranty for it in Hungary. It plays some of my mp3 cds not completly, but my dvd written with 12x are played fine. So i think it was a great sale.

I did get the new motor, which died the next day. Then i got another motor, hope it will last for some months. I wont tell you how much i payed for the repair. The tech guy told me that the failure is a know problem for this model and that Panasonic is aware of it, but does nothing. Thank you, Panasonic! Never again! For European buyers: beware of East European models of all brands: Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, JVC. All EE made models are low quality products (TV, VCR, DVD's). They do work fine for some time and then few months after the guaranty expires the product dies. It happens too often. Sadly. It's almost the same if i buy a no name player for third a price. At least my head won't hurt when it dies ;-).

CVD? $80 270 days 1 of 10 Comments: Died after 9 months. I guess it's the "bad motor" problem that everyone is talking about: after I would load a DVD, the player would try to read it for a minute or two, and then it would shut down. Too bad because this was a very nice player. However, my new Sony DVP NS575P has more features and can handle flawed discs without halting the movie. You won't ever catch me with anything bearing the Panasonic logo after this. Why would Panasonic want to create such a bad reputation with customers by avoiding a recall on an obviously flawed product? Believe me, all of my friends have heard about this experience. The opposite of "brand loyalty" exists. I wonder if Panasonic knows this?

CVD? $? over 1 year 10 of 10 JPG/JPEG DivX Comments: Have had this player since April of 2003 making it about 16 months old and have had no problems whatsoever. Have burned to the following media: TDK DVD+R Sony DVD-R TDK, Maxell, Sony, Memorex and various store-brand CD-R and RWs used for VCD, SVCD, MP3, JPeg, XVCD; all played flawlessly.
