Comments:
OK, this is a large player that will play NTSC LaserDisc as well as PAL and NTSC VCDs. I bought this player for 200 Deutschmarks from someone who was returning from China. I suppose Panasonic built and marketed that player only for this market but I'll include it here anyhow.
The player has just an RCA composite video out, no S-Video or RGB here. The video quality of some ripped PAL VCDs is as good as it gets, compared to my Pioneer DV-434 I would even dare to say that it is LESS jerky (dropped frames) on the Panasonic.
You may be able to find a picture of this player at www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk
I have not tried NTSC VCD yet, but it should work, too.
There is a little rocker switch in the back to set the TV standard for VCD playback to PAL, NTSC or AUTO. Your TV has to be able to lock into the respective scan rate in any event, otherwise NTSC pictures are narrow on PAL monitors.
