I love it.. Although lately towards the end of the svcds it seems to get a little scambled.. I think cleaning it helped cause it hasn't done it in a while.. ALso could be burning at 40x.. dropped to 24 and it now works good again.. I recommend this one to all my friends though as it works on all my svcd and vcd,mp3 and picture disks.

WMA VBR CVD? $200 N/A 10 of 10 Comments: Just wanted to say its played all formats really.It can be picky on Dvd media.It also doesnt like svcds and 2500Kbps rate,it has slight studder at that rate.Any other svcds it plays. I do however have a problem with it not changing disk right and locking up once in awhile.Very irritating.

The remote stinks but I have another programmable remote that I use. The picture is the best I have ever seen from a DVD player.

I use VCDEasy to make the VCD/SVCDs. Very good sound quality and video quality. MP3 quality is very nice (with Optical output), much better than an APEX player I bought earlier from SAMS club. One thing I do not like about this player is its disk changer mechanism - too slow to read disks (compared to my earlier SONY 600D player), the disk exchange process is a bit wierd. The disk does not advance quickly if you are just moving across the disks - it insists on reading each disk (~10secs) before getting to next disk. Also the disks does not advance automatically to the next disk.

MP3 VBR 320kbit/s WMA VBR CVD? $200 N/A 10 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename Comments: I have tried Princo, Memorex, and PrimeDisk (For DVD-R and DVD-RAM) with 100% NO flaws. This player played them like it was straigh from the manufactorer. Even plays DVD-RAM. That is really sweet, cause I can save a whole lot of money by burning to them first, to make sure all is well. Haven't tried any VCD's or DVD-RW but I hear that they work fine. Burned DVD-R using neoDVD, and used Stomp RecordNow for DVD-RAM (DVD-R is supported for Stomp...and I recommend that highly). Play's Windows Media perfectly. No skipping or anything else. I have used ALL the major brand CD-R and RW, with NO flaws. Actually I have also used GQ (only seen at Fry's electronics in the US) and an unlabeled disc. All played unbelievably well. All in all, this IS the best player I have ever seen. I have only 1 question. Why are they discontinuing it? If you read this within 2 weeks of the date it was written (02/14/03 Valentine's Day), then I would go out and buy this in a hurry. CVD? $250 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: This thing plays great. At first my VCD/SVCD was gabled and warped. Then tried new CDR media. Then it came out perfect. Both CDR I used were super cheapo. The difference is the one that did not work was on a disk that had no paper/coating on the top side and was just about see through. Switched to a paper-topped cheap CDR and things are great! MP3s worked great (even on that cheap CDR). DVD-R worked great. Haven't tried much else. The quality of the picture on an HDTV in progressive scan mode is incredible. What a buy for less than US250$.

MP3? 320kbit/s WMA? 196kbit/s CVD $200 N/A 10 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX Comments: It played my older svcd no problem, but they are encoded between 2 and 2.5 mbits and I have no problem with these at all. It plays normal vcd fine, but chokes on xvcds I have. Plays the dvd-r and dvd-rw that I have perfectly. The dvd-r I have are tdk, apple, and some cheapo noname 2x disc. The memorex and sony -rw also play without a hitch. Can't comment on super-cheapo 1x dvd-r discs as all my dvd-r disc are atleast 2x. Also this model also plays dvd-ram using version 1.1 of Video Recording Format, but the disc have to be removed from cartridge. From the manual the WMA compression rate should be between 48kbps and 192kbps, not the 196kbps that was selected. Picture quality of this unit is superb, and does everything I want it to do(play) dvd-r,dvd-rw, cd-audio, and, of course, DVDs. It got an easy to use, and layout remote, and informative onscreen menus.

Picture is great on HDTV. Little slow in the reading disk process.

It played the vcd, svcd (yes it does), dvd-rw (even though manual says it doesn't) but the one thing it wouldn't play was any dvd-r's. And it even states on the box and in the manual that it does...but none played, neither the cheap media or very good pioneer dvd-r media would. Also changing discs is a pain and the remote sucks!

CVD? $250 N/A 8 of 10 DVD-MP3 Comments: Played everything I put into the player except for MP3 files burned to a DVD-RW. I used Instant CD/DVD to burn the disk. VCD played and was able to select a scene from the menu. Was not able to get back to the menu while it was playing. Had to stop play and hit play again to get back to the menu. Used Ulead Video Studio 6 to make VCD. Choosing one of the 5 disks from the remote control was slow and a little awkward. Had to hit two buttons to change disks. Also loading disks was a little awkward compared to other 5 disk changers that I have used. Only 2 disks are exposed at a time. Other than those minor issues this player packs a lot of features for $250. Other players with all these features cost twice as much.
