The Worst player i ever had. i trough i was going to buy a cheapo player after my expensive Sony dved player died after good services.

Now i alreddy returned this player for repair..... but now it is broke again.

The first thing that was wrong is that it made a verry nouisy ticking sound when playing DVD's. when playing CD it was fine.
So after 1 week i recived a repaired or new player. Well i did look about 10 movies and now my tray is going open automatecly. so when i close the tray it opens itself....
Now i will go back to the store and ask if they can give me my money back and then i buy a better player in that store. i even want to pay extra for that......

Never buy this player!

I want to add something to my test

to set the player region free
-open the tray
press 7-5-1-8 on your remote
wait until hand appears
press 0 for region 0

this is not permanent, when you turn off the player it is set back to its normal region, but at least it helps you to play other regions DVD's

I like that player

Has a cool design, and can play nearly all media
except DL-R (and I can live with that)
The real best thing is, it has an integrated DTS decoder - where do you get that for 60 Euros.

It can not play divx movies which have been codet with the option Qpel - thats the fault of the ESS chipset, not the player.

A full test can be found here:
http://www.dv-rec.de/test/player2005/pb/html/pb450.html
If you cant read german at least the list with the divx test CD is interesting for you. Scroll down.

Comments:
Hello to all, I have had the misfortune to receive in gift a reader "DVD-DivX 450 PRO". I have had vary readers DVD, and

this is the first that reads also DivX, allowing me to stop using the PC in order to see my films. As soon as switched on

the reader, I have noticed that the names of the files are of 11 characters. Like to the beautiful old times of DOS: 8

characters more 3 of extension. Files with so short names cannot be recognized, especially if you store on a DVD a television series, whose episodes have a titles that all begin with the name of your preferred hero.

To list the defects that I have found in the reader are:
- names of files are visualized to you with 11 characters
- a "forward/reverse slow mode" does not exist

- the first clip XVID that I have tried to see has not been recognized, because of format 1.x
- putting in standby the reader, to the restart it starts again from the menu beginning and it does not remember therefore the last position in the clip
- italian language, like subtitles are not recognized
- last but not least, I could not not succeeded to update firmware, but probably this defect is of a particular lot of readers.
Several small things that but are not acceptable in a so modern reader.

Comments:
Does not play some DivX, XviD files, but I was not able to figure out, why. The same files did not work on Lenco portable DVD player, so probably it's not the players fault.

The only things I am not happy with: subtitles is supported only in NeroDigital format, if you convert them from DVD. File and directory listing could be better (shows only ~10 first characters of file name). Practically unusable _without_ remote control. Almost impossible to play / navigate mp3 without switching TV on.

Very reliable player for divx, reads all tested dvd-media
without problems. Even supports Nero Digital,
but with a few drawbacks (jerks when changing language,
no skip-funktion).
