My plus points: Very fast loading of DVD's and CD's No noticable layer change time Plays even the scratched DVD's from our DVD rental shop Min points: ? Can not think of any right now. Maybe the price here in the netherlands.... I payed €500 for it.....

N/A 9 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Hi! This is a great player. I used a Cyberhome DVD player before this one. Well, I can tell you, I should have replaced the Cyberhome months (perhaps years) earlier. Great picture quality (although when I use a better SCART* I think the image quality will improve a little). Great 5.1 (DD & DTS) sound. * = type of connector we use in Europe to connect our DVD player to our tv The loading of a disk is very fast. It doesn't matter if it is a recordable or "original" one. Within 2/3 seconds a disk is loaded and ready to be used. When playing a disk, the player is very quite. You have to press your ear against the player to hear it play the disk :-) (That doesn't mean I'm deaf or something)! The player plays all DVD recordable format: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+W and DVD+RW is no problem. As far as I know the player plays any brand of recordable. I have tested One (Ritek), Princo, That's Write, Datawrite, Bulkpaq. I haven't tried DVD-RAM, I don't think it can be played. But hey, that doesn't matter, DVD-/+R discs are much cheaper. CD-R(W) is also no problem BTW. I tried some (S)VCD (including a couple of home-mades) and no problem! The player cannot be hacked with the remote. I bought a chip that is placed in the service port on the back of the DVD player. Works great. RCE is no problem since you can "lock" the player on a specific region. Any questions? N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Even though this DVD player can play SVCD discs, the aspect ratio is displayed wrong. A 4:3 SVCD is interpreted as being a 16:9 source, thus stretching the picture over a widescreen TV or putting it in a letterbox on a 4:3 TV. In case a 4:3 TV is connected you can avoid this problem by setting the output to "4:3 pan&scan", in which case the output is displayed correctly. As far as I know there is no workaround for widescreen TV's.

CVD? $150 N/A 10 of 10 DivX Comments: Bougt Yesterday ! Already checked some feture. 1. Play MP3 on CD-r and CD-RW, These disk wont play on my Lovle JVC XV-F85G. I,am Using MMJB, Nero, Win XP. All Works Great ! 2. VCD and SVCD Works Perfect VBR and CBR, when I use Pinnacle 8, Adobe 6 and 6.5 with LSX encoder for VCD,SVCD,XVCD. But When You Use TMPeG VBR dosn't work 3. Didn't Try yet DVD-R,DVD-RW, DVD+R,DVD+RW I post my mesage about this Later when I Try This OUT. 4. Sound Great with My Onkyo Home Movie System TH-600!! 5. Video is Great !! 6. You Can Read MP3 NAMES of Songs on your LCD DISPLAY and TV , I can program 20 mp3 songs on this DVD player or i can use random on MP3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And when it does read Ritek CD's, it will only read them 1 / 50 times. A REAL VCD had the same problem, the player would recognize it as a CD and try to play it as audio. HORRIBLE PLAYER. It advertises VCD playback, but doesn't perform. FujiFilm (TY) DVD-R's and DVD-RW's work.

And this is terrible on some other players I have seen. -No delay in Layer changes -Love the look and feel of the player -Great analog sound! -Progressive scan for NTSC -It even plays the DVD's from our DVD rental shop (and that means something) Min points: No SACD (though i do not mis it) The price I payed in the netherlands....€595,- !!

N/A 10 of 10 Comments: I have tested lots of media and everything works great, Verbatim, Pioneer, Memorex, No Name brands, I had minor problems with SVCD - 2 media blocky for few seconds, it playes even VBR MP3, no probs with DVD-R/RW I think it is a great buy.

CVD? $250 N/A 5 of 10 Comments: played all my burned cd's...havent tried mp3... also wondering if anyone has played any VCDs and what brand worked with the player.... i have tried VCDs burned on Digital Media, Sony, and Verbatim....all have froze but it does read them for about a min or 2 also is the site showing a different model # then the player i have? mine is a Onkyo DV-CP500

CVD? $450 N/A 10 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: Superb picture and sound, plays all my DVD-R/DVD-RW/CD-R/CD-RW (also with MP3). Can really be recommended! I have also tested VCD and SVCD, but SVCD it plays only with CBR. This isn´t of any interest for me so i give maximum score.
