N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Cheap (at AUD$200) and heaps of features. My 3 year old daughter has been using it for over a year and it still works well. The remote control is crap and we don't use much anymore because it split in half and temporarily works by hitting the DVD player just on top on the cd tray a few times. For some reason it does not consistantly work if you hit the dvd player in other places. It also has a good display showing the type: vcd, svcd, mp3, etc as well at tracks. On a final note the unit is very robust it has really been tested hard by my daughter (even been jumped on!).

N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-MP3 MPEGISO Comments: Plays VCDs well on all brands of CD-R/RW that I have tested. Plays 90/99 Minute CD-Rs great. Very picky on DVD-R brands. Good with Pioneer, Verbatim and Datastream DVD-R. Becomes Jerky with AKAI and Shintaro DVD-Rs. No Disc for Laser DVD-R and all DVD-RW. Unit purchased Dec 2001, there might have been DVDrom updates to fix DVD-R problems with newer units.

CVD? $150 N/A 8 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: Nero burn DVD+R works well, modes 1&2 (Legacy brand media). +RW fail on same both mode 1&2. Bugger. Reasonably good player with good flexibility. As per usual the remote sux.

CVD? $150 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: Have used this unit in video production studio for 9 months now and also used it out on promotional work at least once a month. It has played all DVD-r's flawlessly when many other players tested have failed, especially when testing cheaper media (showing PAL in Australia). It has run DVD-r demos all day at bridal shows also without missing a beat. Excellent unit.

CVD? $150 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: I guess that the quality control from the chinese factory has not bee satisfactory from what I have read from users. I have been lucky so far with my model and the features combined with the price are unbeatable. Have recently bought 2 microphones and used the karaoke feature which is also very good.

N/A 3 of 10 Comments: WOULD be a good player with lots of features, However, the unit is extremely unreliable and picture freezes and sound dropouts occur continually when watching DVD's. The player sometimes locks up completely with the only solution being to turn off and back on again. The problem seems to worsen as the player warms up so it looks great in the store but after an hour or so you feel like smashing it. Unit is very similar to the Omni SL-P3003 which also suffered from similar problems but not so bad. CD-R support is good with all brands working OK except for some TDK brands coming up as "NO DISC" This would be a brilliant player if it were a little more robust and reliable. I ended up taking it back for a refund.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: PROS - Very good MP3 support - Displays JPG image files in slideshow format - Quick to load discs and skip between tracks etc - supports AC3, DTS sound - coax, optical, analog (RCA) outputs for audio - RGB, SVHS, composite outputs for video - plays both NTSC and PAL DVDs - region free and macrovision disabled by default!! CONS - remote control looks cheap and is not intuitive to use Retails for $329 (Australian) and is branded 'Omni' although it originates from China as a generic brand - see: http://www.asiansources.com/malata.co
