Few weeks ago broke finally the inner DVD drive (Fuss Audio DV9929B). I've replaced it. Now working an LG 16xDVD drive. The DVD player can play any DVD format, but I have a problem. The player can't play original DVD discs. Only writed discs. I haven't any idea why. Perhaps region code or macrovision protection? (The new LG DVD ROM is region coded in hardware) Regards

I am very happy with my Nintaus, it has served me well.

Mine does as long as I set it as MASTER.

N/A 7 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: Just bought my first DVD recorder - Plextor PX-708A (very nice thing) and ran into a lot of trouble playing DVD on my Nintaus. I've tried several brands/types but none of them wer readable by my Nintaus. At last I've tried to change the internal DVD-ROM drive (A Hitachi GD-2501) with an ASUS 16x computer-drive. I took of the plastfront of the drawer and the unit itself, connected power and IDE an voila: The player now plays everything so far and plays a lot of my SVCD collection a lot better (higher bitrate performance. I will have to use a couple of hours to finish up the cosmetic of the player. So far I've used Printco DVD-RW, PrimeDisk DVD+RW and Verbatim DVD+R without any problems. I've used both TMPGEnc DVD Author and Nero 5.5.10.45 (Both ISO, ISO/UDF and UDF)

Anyone know how to make it right or should i try permanent instead?

I really don't know why that ocours. Sometimes, I make a film onto 2 discs and second works fine, but first of them has sync problems. Then I have to do the trick above. Except for that, it's a really really good and cheap player. I've bought it with 'Suzuki' brand. But the model is the same.

The same applies for DVD - + RW.

N/A No rating Comments: My Nintaus 9901 colapsed. I decided to change internal dvd-rom mech ( in my case it was Hitachi GD 2501)After some problems I installed older Toshiba 1502 with its latest fw. I must do some "hardware changes" inside because Toshiba is little bigger. But I was succesfull. Now my Nintaus can read all DVD formats except DVD-RAM

Another problem is bugs in the firmware regarding focus finding. Some times, even brand new DVD's can't be played (it keeps trying to find focus forever - never times out! :-( A good thing is the missing macrovision protection - who needs it? In short - medium value player, worst downsides being the SVCD issues (lipsync are really off - unless the player is set to playback in NTSC mode, nomatter if it's a PAL or NTSC SVCD! Sounds like little or no time was used for debugging the firmware? Because i can't even play a lot of new scratchfree DVD's + the SVCD problems, I can't recommend this player :-/

If you want to make "more compliant" burnings this player wont accept DVD-ROM UDF v. 1.02. It must be UDF/ISO.

CVD? $300 N/A 7 of 10 MP3 long filename Comments: I burned DVD+RW's, VCD CDRW's and MP3-CDRW's and played them hazzlefree. DVD+RW's was created using HP media and HP DVD 200i burner. Used Matrox RT2000 material mixed with Premiere and burned with DVDit! Menus and playback worked fine. VCD's created with TmpGEnc and Nero. Worked fine too. MP3's playback fine but there is no "browser" or viewable tracknames at playback - only "song number". Music can not be shuffled? Some problems playing DVD's (regular from industry) - sometimes playback can hang in menus. When it hangs the player must be turned off and on again. Default subtitle can only be set to english or chinese. Macrovision and region protection turned off by default. Picture quality is good. Sometimes I find the stereo output(regular stereo, not 5.1) to be a bit strange - sounds like they output rear audio to L/R-connection in scart?

So I read in xabat's review that nintaus are nothing more than normal IDE drives , I took the chance ignoring the waranty opened up the player, hmm my dvd drive was not an Hitachi 2501 but an DVD DSL600A with revision LI-08 so i looked and found fireware for it, I flashed the drive with revision LI-18 iup it means that the fireware was damm old , and voila it is reading all discs it wasn't before , and i am happy ;-) . N/A 6 of 10 Comments: It did not play Princo DVD-RW recorded on Pioneer A04 burner. However it can play DVD-R. The player detected DVD but after a while it said Bad Disc when trying to play DVD-RW. The disc played fine in the computer in the Pioneer A04 so I guess this player doesn't support DVD-RW, at least not this brand and this disc.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Several people commented on problems with sycning on SVCD disks. This only occurrs occasionaly with disks I have encoded (using Adobe Premiere 6.01 and LSX Adobe plugin codexs). There is a simple fix, by cycling through the audio tracks and back to the one being listened to the sync delay is fixed. Overall it is a very good player for the price but has a minor anoyances such as above and it wont search (FF/RW) on a MP3 track. otherwise very good

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I have just bought a Pioneer DVR-A04 DVD-writer and tested my first DVD-R disc on my Nintaus standalone player and it works without a problem. I used a SMART BUY DVD-R and burned a copy of a DVD I own. I used Nero Burning Rom to burn the DVD-R. I haven'tested DVD-RW yet. But I could not play the complete movie in the computer using the burned DVD-R disk in the Pioneer DVR-A04. When I used data verification in Nero it said that the two last files had errors. So my Nintaus standalone player plays the disc better than the burner that made it! The player also work with XSVCD at 480x576 or 352x576 PAL resolution with bitrates up to around 4000 kbit/s. It does not play 704x576 or 720x576 SVCD unless it's encoded without B-frames (but then the max bitrate is too low to get good quality). To overcome SVCD audio synch problems I alsways multiplex in bbmpeg. It plays MP3, but I don't know max bitrate and if it plays VBR. It also play VCD but have not tested XSVCD. It is macrovision free as default so there is no need for any hacks to copy a DVD to a VCR. I have it connected through my VCR to my TV. This is nice! It's supposed to be region free aslo but I have only tested region 2 discs.
