MP3, VCD, SVCD, MPEG-1, CD-audio. I bought mine 4 years ago. It's a great machine.

CVD? $50 30 days 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename DivX Comments: cheap, very small, plays svcd, mp3 and dvd+r, was worth the money, i bought two of these at 40€ a piece. If you can get it this cheap, go ahead. Otherwise it's probably better to invest in a player that plays DivX/XviD.

N/A 7 of 10 MPEGISO Comments: I think that at least two versions of this player exist. Mine one doesn't have ide interface dvd rom and so there is no chance to change the built in dvd player. But It plays philips 4x DVD+RW perfectly with no need of bitsetting (I have pioneer 107 wich does not support bitsetting) and it doesn't have any heat problems. I think mine one is the last produced version of this player. I hope this helps.

I tryed just replacing it but that did not work...display did not work and nothing happende. I switched back to the old one and it worked. So i did not brake anything.

I've had 3 now all have been replaced because they get to hot then the DVD's just freeze. Great fun watching dvd's like that. What a waste of plastic

CVD? $50 N/A 1 of 10 Comments: Just as other people report, after 30-60 minutes starts to skip, gets confused, then eventually doesn't even recognize a loaded disc or respond to the remote. This was a 'deal-of-the-day' on smartbargains.com - perhaps Mustek realized they have thousands of crap units and tried to get rid of them that way?

MP3 VBR WMA CVD? $150 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: Plays almost everything, but I'm sure it doesn't play DVD-RW (PIONEER), too bad, that was the only one I got with the A05 writer... It has serious problems with heat, and now it's got old, it also has problem to spin-up discs at loading time... image is not as perfect as well-known brand but it's still good and very cheap... And now I want to use a 5.1 speaker set with built in amplifier, I'm stuck... no built in decoder on that player, just a coax output... DOH! I was thinking about buying a new pack (very cheap) DVD838W + MV886 which is a mustek slim with integrated decoder, and 5.1 speakers (160W RMS total) for only 239€ (about the same in dollars m8's), but dunno if it will play DVD-Rs (hehe). Should be...

N/A No rating Comments: This player appears to vary dramatically depending on which version of software is installed. The first player I had played everything I put into it. I took various vcd svcd mp3 files off the computer and tried these, all worked fine. However the unit did get extremeley hot, This could be the DVD decoder. I had one problem with the unit which was loss of DVD decode, I returned this unit and received a replacement the same model but with one difference, the software was an earlier revision. This player played DVD OK and Audio but it will not play MP3 or SVCD VCD or anything else I have tried. On reflection I wish I had saved the money and put it towards a Sony DVD writer.

It wont play Grey Datawrite 2x (ritek Dye), wont play FWS (Ritek Dye) and it wont play Tango Bulpaq 4x discs. I would say... Stay Away. Better off getting a datawrite or a mirror player.

(I switch it on and off with my amplifier -works-) - You have to put the remote-control straight in front of it, otherwise it will not work. (use a universal- remote-control works mutch better. I tested 90/99min CD-R on this Player. This is what I found out: - It fully supports 90min CD-R - It supports 99min CD-R up to 96 minutes and 14 seconds (96,24 Min.). It means 845 MB in "normal"-mode and 959 MB in (S)VCD-mode. P.S.: sorry for mistakes, I´am from germany my english is not perfect.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Super, came free with my mobile phone ;) as others have also said.. I have experienced problems with heat ONLY when it was on top of the sattelite box. People who find it overheats need to remember to give it REAL ventilation and not to let it near other hot things, the manual does state this so consider yourselves warned ;) Enjoy if you buy it!

N/A No rating MP3 ID3 TAG DivX Comments: Played dvd+rw without bitchanging. I burnt the dvd+RW as iso mode1 in Nero (using NEC ND1100A and a verbatim dvd+rw). No probs. DVD+R (platinum) plays good as well. Nice player for the money. Gets a bit hot though. By the way, I have the old version. Region free was a piece of cake.

After second day it stopped recognizing standard DVD's, and I discovered that it gets piping hot even in standby. It makes a grinding noise, probably trying to find the disk. Sent it back, and bought myself a Pioneer 454. What a difference! The mustek just plainly sucks! Don't buy it.
