CVD? $? over 1 year 9 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Very good quality of sound and display. it is possible to play mp3 !!! You have to use the correct code (same for region code and svcd enable). After typing the code whit your remote control, you can play mp3. I havent try it on a dvd, but cd's with max. 200 numbers are working. check the mp3 before playing eith aschampoo for incorrect headers (marantz player can not play all type of mp3's), this is a little job fore great fun. No folder and long name support.

It works with ALL my DVD-R dvd's, DVD+RW and with the VCD and SVCD. Also the DVD quality is perfect.

CVD? $500 over 1 year 8 of 10 Comments: In Oct 2004 I tested playability of DVD+R DL format using Verbatim brand. I was disappointed to find it rejected the disc. I used ULead DVD Workshop to author the DVD. The disc plays on DVD-ROM drives and a Pioneer DVD player I tried. I have asked a Marantz distributer whether a firmware update exists.

N/A 6 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: SVCD must be burned with no more than 8 speed, otherwise it stops for a few seconds every 5-10 minuts. All my media have been no-name CD and DVD's. I have a Yamaha 2100E CD-burner, and a Sony DW-U10A DVD burner.

N/A No rating Comments: Note this player will NOT play DVD-R! It will play +R/+RW very well. IT is a good quality player for visual & sound.

N/A 1 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: The worst dvd player. I had it for 2 years till i replaced it with sony dvp-ns705. This player refuses to play some dvd-r but it's ok for other dvd-r (same media). Like it has a mind of it's own. Sony in the other hand played all the above dvd-r's. Also in vcd and svcd there are gaps and unsynchronasation. This player SUCKS>!!!!

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: unsynchronized problems in svcd, may be because of the burning process (Ulead VS6 with Yamaha CRW2100E burner). By pressing Pause and then resume playing, the unsynchronization gone. No problems with menus.

Very solid and clean layout. Takes a time to read Media but then plays it very well. I make this statement especially because of my own researches. Yes, THIS PLAYER PLAYS SVCDs! I think, the only one from Marantz (except the ultra expensive ones). If you want, also with chapters! I am very happy with this unit. Greets Mark

You probably want to set it back to "All" when playing a DVD.
