Seems to play most common formats, including Divx encoded with qpel and GMC 1 point (seems to work ok with 2, has real problems with 3). Handles up to 720 x 576 res, and up to around 4500kbps bitrate before choking (Divx/Xvid playback) with multiple audio tracks. Also plays VOBs, mpeg 1 and II programme streams, mp3 (with ID tags) and wma. Also accepts a range of subtitle formats, and multiple subs per title. Picture quality is good, although slightly softer than my Pioneer players. A great unit for the price, even better when it comes free.

CVD? $? 1 days 10 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: Not only does it do everything my previous LG player, the DV7711P, did, it also corrects a few mistakes made with that player. No longer does the remote control insist on making one hold down and press the chapter skip button to fast-forward, to name a good example. While the player still cannot be meaningfully operated without a remote control, the buttons on the player itself are much easier for those of us with grown-man-size fingers to get tactile control of. In essence, this is a player designed with user-friendliness in mind. That said, it still requires bitsetting in order to play DVD+R DLs. I have not tried it with DVD-R DLs, but given that the -R camp is only bringing out DLs because the +R camp did, I see no real need to try it anyway. When bitset, +R DLs play back without a problem. It will also play back JPG CDs, although the icon-based menu to control playback is somewhat non-intuitive.
