CVD? $? 240 days 6 of 10 JPG/JPEG DivX XviD DVD-MPEGISO Comments: At long last I can report the outcome of my problem. After making my first report the player was returned a further 3 times mainly due to my persistence that there was a problem to be fixed and one difficult to demonstrate ie random freezing /stop start of picture. Overall the response was From the Retailer --- not interested. LG --- not much help and insisted the repair would be attempted three times before they might “consider” replacement The repairer --- Rude service. They lied to me claiming they had replaced ALL internal components when the had only replaced the tray assembly. Third time I returned it (on LG’s instruction) they refused to look at it all saying there was nothing more they could do. Finally LG referred me to another repairer who it seems have fixed it as I’ve played about 9 dvd without problem. I drove near 250 km back and forth to the repairers and retailer and wasted a lot of time on phone calls.not too mention not being able to use my player properly for over six months or the frustration caused by the unhelpful attitude of everyone. Oh yes and the second repairer lost my remote control and took some chasing on my part to get it back. Draw your own conclusions as to the moral of this story I consider the after sales service from LG as appalling.I wonder if it was really worth it to them ? The cost has been Repairer 1 unknown dollars Repairer 2 $371.37 Australian They have lost a customer – I wont be buying LG again However being fair I have inreased my rating for the player and providing it continues trouble free I will be happy with it

CVD? $125 180 days 4 of 10 JPG/JPEG DivX XviD DVD-MPEGISO Comments: I gave this a low rating because of the poor playback performance of Hired DVDs that typically come with bad surface marks. Problem is stop start picture freezing that happens maybe once or many times during playback of a disc. Incidence is about 60/70 percent of discs played and therefore in my book renders this unit useless for this purpose. It has happened once or twice on brand new discs too. MOST OF THE PROBLEM DISCS WERE TRIED ON ANOTHER DVD (PHILLIPS)PLAYER , A TOSHIBA LAPTOP AND MY COMPUTER ( WHICH HAS AN LG DVD READ/WRITER-BURNER - THEY ALL PLAYED WITHOUT PROBLEM The machine has been returned and the "tray assembly " replaced. This did not cure the problem. It was returned again and the Service Agent very reluctantly has agreed to put another tray assembly in. They at one time commented "they had a lot of LG players returned" implying my problem was not unique but would not really discuss the problem. I will be complaining to LG about their agents attitude which was very offhand and not very helpful. I've not yet recieved the player back but will post again if the "repair" is satisfactory. I'm dissapointed with this product which otherwise has performed, well reading all media and formats i've put in it.

Comments: I think its the best at the moment (in OZ anyway) The only one that plays xvid packed bitstream, the default setting in the new xvid codec. Will not play xvid 3 warp point GMC encoded files, which seems to be beyond the current limitations of the MT1389 chip. Purchased from BigW. P.S. I got my eye on the new snazio dvd cinema hd, sounds realy cool.

CVD? $100 120 days 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX XviD MPEGISO DVD-MPEGISO Comments: I've had the unit for some months now and been quite happy with it. I can now play all my divx/xvid files i've been backing up on dvdr for the last couple of years on my tv in my lounge! No dramas with it apart from memory card slot is extremely slow running off my sd card for jpegs(still works tho). It has played everyone of my xvids/divx movies, shows, vids or whatever that i have tried except for xvid/divxhd files(plays mpeg4 up to 720x576). I was a bit disapointed but I only have a standard crt 29" so I wouldn't get the benefit of hd files anyway. Mixed discs with mpeg 1/2/3/4/jpeg work fine. Just got myself a hdtv card and can just put the unprocessed mpeg2 files the tvcard records straight onto dvd iso and choose files in directory form on tv. For $135 I can say i got my money's worth.

MP3 WMA CVD? $125 90 days 4 of 10 DivX Comments: Does not work on all DIVX codecs, plays up on "backed up" sometimes (Compared to my old Panasonic CV52) and LG support do not support. I have sent email after email asking if there is a firmware update to fix problems. The price was in the upper end of available players and the lower end of ability. I have had many LG products before, but this one is a lemon. It will not put me off the LG brand, I may just wait next time to see what other people think of one of their products before I waste my money on one. Oh yes, I purchased it from Megamart (Myer) in Perth WA for $170au and when I asked Megamart to send it off for checking the problem they told me that they have been having problems with LG and I was wasting my time, just put up with the problem I guess. Does however play every type of DVD-r I put in it (except for the odd stutter) and picture quality was OK (Compared with the budget end players, not that good compared with players of same value). It may just be a one off player problem and maybe not something that follows in this model, but I am unable to get a swapped unit because of the problems I just stated. Good hunting

CVD? $125 14 days 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-JPG DVD-MP3 MP3 ID3 TAG DivX Comments: Also has two memory card slots supporting: - SmartMedia Card - Compact Flash Card (I've tried this and it works) - Micro Drive - Secure Digital Card - Multi Media Card - Memory Stick - Memory Stick Pro Only reads the first 650 files on a CD/DVD/Memory Card. The rest of the files are not detected.
