Found a few discs that would not get past Security warning message (e.g. LOTR) but to bypass this during warning screen select access and program. Enter Title 1 and Chapter 1. Lots of other sites give hacks for the player that work fine

N/A 6 of 10 Comments: This is actually quite a good DVD player, especially considering I bought it way over 2 years ago! I have burnt dvds on Sony`s drx-500UL multiformat writer, and none have worked on the player. It reads no disc present. The dvds were recorded on MyDVD by sonic. MP3s play fine, as do VCDs (recorded in the right format)

CVD? $200 N/A 8 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: DVD-R and DVD+R seem fine - note that this player seems to sulk badly over discs burnt with Nero - it freezes just after detecting the DVD and you need to power cycle it to get this disc out. If the player freezes with 00:00, DVD and PLAY on the display, this may be your problen. I've had good results with creating images in IFOEdit and burning with DVD Decrypter. The trick of using UDF/ISO format in nero and selecting UDF 1.02 rather than choosing the Video-DVD template may work - haven't tried it yet. No luck yet with either RW format - can anyone confirm success with this? Plays MP3 including files in folders, but no way to choose playlist. No idea about CBR/VBR Don't know these for sure, but I think... No macrovision hack. No Picture CD. Sulks over CD-R(W) with DVD data on Features of this player still strong 18+ months after launch - particularly the comprehensive set of outputs including optical and 5.1. For anyone trying to use a programmable remote this player is a pain since the remote sends the first press of a button as one code and subsequent presses as a seperate (different code). I got a learning remote to work ok(ish) by programming each action with the button I really wanted followed by one of the unlabelled buttons on the real remote. The second button in the sequence tricks the player into accepting repeated presses of the key, otherwise you can hit right once from the learning remote, but it wont work again until you use another control. I won't see email sent to the address shown - use robin_d0t_glover_at_dsl_d0t_pipex_d0t_com.

Had no problems playing DVD, SVCD, VCD, CDA or MP3 (up to 192). doesn't play KSVCD not sure about XVCD yet. Neat little remote. Dolby 5.1 sound, 2 scarts, optical outputs, SVHS the lot. Basic looking but who gives a t***. I'm happy get yourself down to Debenhams U.K. Fozzee

Would like to see firmware upgraded to support VBR mp3 and directory listing (a 'dirty' but quick menu system) for MP3 discs. Great versatility from such a (relatively) cheap player
