I really like this player, havent ever really had problems with it. tried to get it to run a VCD disk but it didnt work. going to try DVD -/+R and DL soon.
For all of you that are annoyed by the auto subtitle feature, here is a little trick i figured out to stop the subtitles from ever comming up.
power the dvd player with no disc in, go to language, subtitles and set the subtitles to swedish. since those of us in North America will probably never come across a disc with swedish, the player will not be able to show the subtitles over top of the movie :). if you ever want subtitles again (why?), you can just set it back to english, hope this helps a few aggravations. |

As mentioned here by another user, the entire system comes preprogrammed to have subtitles always on. It does not matter if you ask the DVD to turn the subtitles off, and the DVD info menu has no ability to do so.
Thus, every DVD I watch comes with subtitles.
I am only half deaf, thank you, and I'm very much insulted by KOSS. This company should have caught a mistake like this.
I wasted money, and will not buy from KOSS again. |

It plays burned dvd-r movies but after playing them you MUST clear the resume feature by pressing the stop button twice. If not, the player will not play another dvd-r disc and will say its incompatible.
The dvd player tries to search for the resume spot on the 1st dvd-r thinking it was the same dvd-r and cannot so it reports it as incompatible. once you clear the resume memory of the old dvd-r it will work with the new dvd-r |

| I was wondering if anyone else had trouble with snow (or maybe static, not wavey lines but white dots) appearing on their television (and only on certain channels) when their unit is plugged in? Also, how do you know if the firmware upgrade worked? Thanks in advance for any help |

Anybody had DVD skipping problems? I just traded for a different one b/c of this skipping problem.
Works good otherwise. But the subtitles are defaulted to ON, (everytime I have to go to info and turn it off) anybody know how to change this? |

| I'd picked it up at Costco Canada. It's great for the price with Karaoke mixer. There is a new firmware ath www.koss.ca that will fix the "Power off" issue when use the remote control. The Region Free hack is also work. I like. |

| When the player is put into Standby mode by pressing the Power button on the remote, the green light on the player turns red. However, after 30 minutes the player starts up again by itself. The only way I can prevent this from happening is to press the Power button on the player so that the green light goes out completely. I wonder if this is a bug in my machine or if others have experienced the same problem. |
