I popped the movie into my KLH and away we went! No problems!!

CVD? $? over 1 year 7 of 10 Comments: For the money (and the time I bought it, a few years ago), it seems like a good value. However, I have recently been burning DVD's and the KLH 8350 has mucho problemas playing them back. It is consistently inconsistent. Another very strange thing I discovered, is after burning DVD's using the Go Video VR4940, when I play it in the KLH 8350 and set A to B, instead of looping like it should, it displays the Menu I burnt with a transparent background, resets to the first chapter and does not loop (when testing the AtoB looping, don't use chapter 1 or you may get fooled).

THe DVD says it will play the DVD -R but It will not play the DVD-R. I have an older DVD player, about 4 years older and it can play the DVD-R disk.

CVD? $50 N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I bought this DVD player becuase it was the cheapest one. My Apex before it was fine until it was accidently dropped. This is fine for the money, after I bought it I started getting into burning DVDs (NEC 1300A). I just started experimenting I used DVD shrink 3.1 and bvurned onto COMPUSA +R, 2.4X but it would not play on this unit. It played beautifully on friends and in my Car's DVD-ME1 blaupunkt player. Friend gave me a TDK +R,4X he burned using XCOPY Express it worked on KLH 8350. It sounds like COMPUSA -R has worked for some? Looking for confirmations so I can cut to the chase and buy the right (cheapest) media that will work.

CVD? $50 N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: bought this at costco wholesale for 49.95. this thing works great. plays just about everything iv thrown at it. if your thinking of bying a $50 apex from circuit city or something, i would by the KLH 8350 first from costco. it works great, costco will return any item for full price cash back basicly for life. get this one first and if u dont like it for some reason go take it back and buy something else, but im pretty sure you would keep this player, cuzz it works great.

N/A No rating Comments: FYI! Just telephone company: MintekDigital in Anaheim, CA USA 1866-709-9500. Tech told me his machines are not set up to play +/- R or RW only DVD as they come from the movie producing companies. He said they have no intentions of changing their system. They will replace the player if it is under warranty and does not work, but only for regular DVD movies. Only other recourse is to return it to Costco where I bought it.

However, I can say for certain that my player absolutely refuses to play any DVD+R disk that I have burned, and the disks were TDK good quality disks. All of my DVD-R burns have played successfully, so far.

N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: I used dvdxcopy express and cheap compusa dvd-r disks and it played them fine, also used dvd2svcd to burn movies and they play fine as well, note the comments above about loading the disk and after the file menu is displayed press the play button. No other comments, just bought at costco for $50. I only rated it a 8 because for that kind of money I'm a little nervous about long term quality. Will update in a couple of months.

CVD $60 N/A 5 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: Some players of pre-2003 seem to work with SVCD, based on reviews here. May have changed OEM in 2003. The present one I bought from Costco does not play SVCD. VCD header trick gives blank blue screen (aka does not work). Plays DVD+R OK. Below for Pioneer K301: Also tested Pioneer K301. Plays DVD+R OK. Officially no SVCD support but recognizes SVCD as VCD and plays OK. There is bitrate limit to 2756k (SVCD spec) when playing SVCD. Exceed it and video is choppy. VCD header trick works too but video >1600k bitrate runs fast, or slow below it. So video and audio runs normal, slow, fast, as if it's a variable speed tape, following bitrate change on the disc.

N/A 5 of 10 MPEGISO Comments: When i try to play svcd it does not work, goes to file browser and when i manually play the file the picture and audio chokes and gets very choppy, can someone confirm that it does indeed play svcd and post how they did so, what software they used to author, etc.

N/A No rating miniDVD/cDVD Comments: Would not play DVD+RW (bit mode 2). Did not test bit mode 1 since player not located close by. Did play CD-R with DVD content (output in MPEG2 from Premiere and authored using DVD Workshop, burned onto CD-R with NeroExpress.) Interestingly, this player should have played the DVD+RW regardless of bit mode setting. My Toshiba SD1600 played it fine, but choked on the CD-R.

CVD? $60 N/A 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG DivX Comments: Got it at Costco for ~$65. Plays everything I've thrown at it. Doesn't Autoplay VCDs or SVCDs, just press play after the Disc Info pops up. Only problem I've found is that if you have a VCD or SVCD and press PLAY to close the tray without waiting for the Disc Info, playback/audio is very choppy. I haven't any info on DVD R/RWs or any Macrovison or Region Hacks. I've gone from a Cyberhome to a Mintek and ended up with the KLH. It seems to do more of what I want. Although I have to say the Cyberhome CH-500's DVD output was superior (NOTE that was Non-Progressive picture). Also I needed to adjust my Brightness and Contrast settings with the KLH since it was a little "dark." NOTE: This is my secondary player, my other is a Panasonic RP-82.

CVD? $70 N/A 1 of 10 JPG/JPEG MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Often chokes (scambles video and sometimes sound loss) on normal prerecorded DVDs whenever the action/motion becomes fast. It also sometimes chokes in situations that I can't deduce a cause. At first I thought it was just damaged rentals, but it does it on brand new media that plays fine in another tested player. Contrary to what other have reported, it does not say it supports SVCD and when I tried it... It provides the disk file folder menu similar to MP3 or jpeg interface rather than the SVCD programed interface. Manually selecting on the encoded video file would cause the player to try to play it, but choked showing perhaps half a frame in ten.

I like the fact that you can just record jpg files on a normal iso cd.. rather cool..

CVD? $70 N/A 10 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD JPG/JPEG Comments: Am really impressed with ability to play miniDVD (DVD file structure on a CD-R) and the slide-show of a CD-R with a directory structure of JPG pictures. Doesn't have to be a "Kodak" disk, it decodes any JPG algorithim. Great features for the price, at Costco.
