Pro's-
-Small design
-Play/Transfer files over network with ease.
-Open source software meaning modded firmwares availible (no blue lights, multiregion etc)
-Hard drive is great.
-Plays most video formats availible
-store music, pictures and video clips on HDD
-webradio is great
Cons-
-Come on Kiss where's my DIVX 6 upgrade?
-Network transfer is slow
-wireless network cabability is a joke
-crashes often with unsupported divx (have to unplug)
-only plays files in stereo from HDD, even vobs
-no wma or wmv support
I'm happy but the only thing annoys me is the fact that 99% of the time when a format is currently unsupported it doesn't say "sorry" and returns to the menu it crashes and you have to unplug the thing, stick to familiar formats and it's great. |

This is an excellent player and well worth the money.
It has an ethernet connection, so you can connect it to your home network. Simply install the uncluded PC-Link software or other (better) versions, like FreeKiSS. This makes it possible to browse via your TV through the folders on your computer and select the file you want to play. This is a must-have feature. No more messing around with CDR's and DVDR's, simply stream it. Optionally you can also have a wireless connection, but I haven't tried that.
Another great feature is the 40GB harddrive. It allows you to store (not record) audio, video and pictures on it. It should be possible to copy files, by selecting them in the DVD player's menu en pressing the "Copy" button on the remote control.
This does not work for me. The latest firmware (v2.9.3 at this moment) allows you to copy, move and delete files with FTP. This works fine for me. The hardrive has a standard folder, named "lost+found". I had to make three folders, named "audio", "video" and "pictures" (no CAPITALS) in the root of the harddrive and copy the files in there, before the files were visible in the DVD player's menu.
The transfer rate goes at 1000kbyte/s. It takes about 12 minutes to copy a 700mb AVI from the computer to the DVD player's harddrive.
The DVD player plays most DivX/XviD. It does seem to "stutter" very slightly with some DivX files, but it plays most of them perfectly. The DVD player does not support QPel and S-VOP.
For some strange reason I don't get audio with the digital optical output when I play some movies encoded with DivX 3.11. I have to use the analog output then.
Another small 'bad' thing is that the DVD player has two big blue shining buttons when the DVD player is on. It does distract a bit when you're watching a movie in a dark room.
The DVD player doesn't have many options, but it does what it's meant for.
Overall this is the best DVD player I had so far. With a price of about $350 (300 Euros) it's pretty expensive if you realize that you can get DivX DVD players for $70 nowadays, but the streaming feature and harddrive make this small (slimline) machine well worth the money. |

Excellent player, 40GB HDD, is capable of wireless, this works fine after quite tricky set-up.
Plays Divx and AVI. Player also has web radio built in, neat, tidy machine, well worth the money. |
