N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I wasn't too hopefull when I used this machine. But it does the job witk vcd and dvd+r. It didn't work yet with the dvd+rw but I did not use the Bitsetting feature. I will have to find this out. The dvd+r disks have a Sony brand and a Hi-Space brand. CYA for more details. Henk

I'am using the JVC now for almost 2 years but will not buy any player from that brand anymore!!!

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: -VCD Headers tricks works just fine. -Normal VCD are often choppy, more and more towards the end to become unwatchable. -All the menus I tried never showed up correctly. I finaly gave up and burned my vcd directly with Nero without menu. -PLays standard DVD flawlessly(Never tried other then north america region) -Had it for around 2years now and had to clean the lens yesterday. Play perfectly again(The VCD still have problems....)

CVD? $200 N/A 6 of 10 Comments: has been playing my DVD-R and DVD+RW without any problems. also had no problems with CD-RW or CD-R on this machine. bit dodgy if it comes to audio output. mp3 are not played back through the optical/digital output of the player but only through the analog ones. which means both digital and analog need to be hooked up to the receiver. i've had a DVD (can't remember the title) where i had to unplug the optical cause it would only playback in stereo but have some signal on the optical that made the dolby digital receiver switch to optical input and not playback anything at all.

N/A 8 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: I've tested every video format I could burn on a CD-R(W) on this player and here are the results: CD-R(W): Any CD-R or CD-RW should play on this player. VCD: Plays perfectly, no problems at all. XVCD: This is the best quality CD format I can play on this player. 2500 kbit/s works fine. I have tried 3000 kbit/s which didn't work, and I haven't tested between 2500 and 3000. Resolution has to be kept at VCD resolution (352x288 for PAL). SVCD: No playback. And if SVCD doesn't play XSVCD won't either. SVCD with Header Trick: This is basically a SVCD compliant MPEG2 file burnt as a VCD. This did not play. CVD: No playback, but I'm not entirely sure if this was a CVD I burnt or XSVCD. Mini-DVD: No playback. DVD-R(W): Instruction books states that this format is not playable, but I have never tested it. Audio CD: Regular audio CD's play perfectly. DVD-Audio: Instruction book states that this format is not supported, but I have never tested it. DVD-Video: Playback is perfect in all areas. If you just want a DVD player to play DVD movies, then this player is a great choice. However compatibility for other formats is not great (although most DVD players don't play most of the formats listed above). I have no problem using XVCD, it's a good quality format which is better than VHS, however it would be very nice to have SVCD compatibility, and if i was buying a DVD player again, I'd make sure to get one with this feature. CVD? $90 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Excellent piece of equipment! It plays store-bought DVD's with great picture and sound quality. I recently played a SVCD on it, I used the Header Trick as described on the top of the page to make it a VCD 2.0 since I couldn't get any picture with a standard SVCD (It did play sound). The quality of this (S)VCD was incredible, no frame skipping, no problems. Haven't tested any home-made dvd's yet, I'm making a DVD+R as we speak...I'll keep you posted on that one. greets from el Hanos.

Off the shelf DVD's play brilliantly, with excellent picture and sound.

CVD? $200 N/A No rating Comments: I have a lot of trouble with this DVD player personally. I've got an older VCR and TV so I have to run it through the inputs on the back of the VCR but then the tape copy protection goes nuts and the images always brighten and darken all the time and makes it difficult to watch movies. I tried burning a VCD and an SVCD using Nero Burn and the best I could get was the VCD's opening menu opened up. It wouldn't play anything else though. I wonder if it was the burning prog I used or what but it's not too bad. Also, DVD's skip all the time on this thing. Once again though, I think it's just the tape protection going wonky. I'm sure this is a great DVD player if you have a relatively new TV and/or VCR. That's about all. Bye.

It does not Play some of my All Region Hong Kong DVDs like it should and 99% of VCDs i use in it Skip frames very much and hinders watching the movie :[ but if the DVDs actually do work they are great quality and the sound is amazing, if you are useing it for Store bought DVDs i recommend but for VCD/SVCD or non Region 1 DVDs i don't recommend this product

I used Lame MP3 decoder. So it plays MP3! Please change the list.
