Aaagghh! Divx still seemas to play. Anypne else had this problem; anyone knwo how I can flashback or where to get alternative firmware rom files from? Thanks

Don't worry, the procedure very easy, all ROM (extract from zip) files need to write on to blank CD-RW, then put it on JVC DVD. Close tray, and it will automatic upgrade self, and DVD will automatic switch off (reboot). That's all. :o) Vote is only 7, because contrary to technical page, player not play WMA files. Can anyone play WMA with this player? THX! DON PEDRO

MP3? 320kbit/s WMA CVD? $150 90 days 9 of 10 DVD-JPG DVD-WMA DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX XviD Comments: Very good player It plays DivX and Xvid very good, very good picture (little more red color in picture) It plays DivX subtitles with MiddleEurope letter (Czech, Poland, ...) but code ISO only (not Windows 1250) Firmware for this is on www.jvc.pl or www.jvc.no and acc. some unconfirmed info new firmware will be in April on www.jvc.cz (support Win1250?) VCD and SVCD plays OK Player has very quick start after load disk (2-4s), it is very small There is little difficult play of MP3 without TV (display has info about number of track and group (directory) only - without text info RF/FF is very quick (max 60x for DVD) and it is working for DivX too (4 steps) There is possibility for 1.5x playback speed with sound

WMA CVD? $? 30 days 3 of 10 DivX MPEGISO Comments: My player doesn't play SVCD nor VCD!!! Took it back to the store. They say it sure does and this was the first time they had any complaints. They would need 3-5 weeks for just checking the problem! Shame on you (Expert-butiken, Sweden)! DivX plays fairly well, no XViD's have worked well. I clinch to my fiancee's Silvercrest from Lidl. It plays almost anysthing.

Plays anykind of DivX, that I've tried with excellent quality. It reads the disc at great speed. The only thing I miss with this player is the time-search function on DivX movies. It has a great design. Doesn't take up much space. It is not the cheapest player on the market but it's worth every penny. all-in-all a great DVD-player.

CVD? $? 1 days 10 of 10 MP3 long filename DivX Comments: costed £79 from comet. i was going for the big sister top of the range xv-n412 untill i saw it's brother the xv-n316 which i think is even better! Loads up dvds pretty quick. The reason i got this player was because my Samsung S224 had given up the ghost it would not play anything other then normal dvds at a push. plays xvid, divx, vcd, svcd, mp3, wav. = cd divx, xvid, mpeg2 dvd = dvd+r seems pretty good, i encounterd a slight problem on an xvid where the sound would stop every 12 seconds for 2 seconds, that might of been a audio format that which is not supported by the dvd player CDs used, cheap ones from novatech.co.uk DVDS used, cheap bulkpaq DVD+R

In my oppinion its a good solid player, which is fast, and you can fast forward and zoom on divx and xvid.

Therefore more or less useless if you buy this player as a DivX pLayer.

JVC have 2 versions, the XV-N316 in Silver & the XV-N315 in Black, the only difference seems to be the colour.
