| I've used both Sony and TDK DVD-R's, using the same burner and program. DVDShrink, and Nero6 for burning DVD's. Some of them worked and some of them didn't. All but one work in the computer. The Burner is a Lite-On, 1633S, Dual Layer 16X burner. I've read reports about upgrading the firmware will correct this and that Lite-On releases quite a bit of firmware upgrades, which improves MANY things. I upgraded tonight but have not burned anything yet. My complaints about this player are, 1 the response from the remote that comes with it SUCKS! Do yourself a favor and get a universal, I run a Sony RM-V202 universal. The response time is better, plus you don't have to be pointed directly at it, almost 100% on axis to get it to work. Only other complaint is the Component video even though it's the same format as the TV will not work correctly, I get black and white. |

Pro: Fast reactions/startup/loading, 1.5x FF with sound, quite operation.
Contra: MPEG4-Support only for asf, no divx at all. |

Contrary to previous reports at least Fujifilm DVD+RW (burned at 4x) works just fine.
MP3-feature displays only first 12 characters of the filename and the folder name (no id3-tags). |

| Doesn't read DVD-RW nor DVD+RW. Using CD-RW with MP3s, scrolling between songs was incredoubly slow, I thought it had hung. The only thing it can remotely handle is store bought movies. Can get better cheaper. |

The XV-N212S is the same player as the XV-N210B, just in silver instead of black.
Had a chance to test a few discs out on one, so thought I'd post a report.
It's supposed to be able to play MPEG-4 (simple profile), but tried two discs and it couldn't read either of them. Reading the manual, the files are required to be asf and not avi, so in truth this player's MPEG-4 compatibilty is not much use. |
