CVD? $? over 1 year 5 of 10 DVD-RAM Comments: I've tested different types of DVD media so far and come to the next conclusion: DVD-RAM/RW disks can't be recognized by the player. DVD-R/+R can be successfully used for DVD (MPEG2) backup. CVD? $200 N/A 5 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Have been using the DVD player since Feb-2001 (from City Electronics ~$350 CAD). Connected to my JVC RX-888V A/V receiver. Works great with all original DVD disks. Tried Imation DVD-RW 1x twice (DVD Decrypter/DVD Shrink/AutoShrinkISO and DVDDecrypter/DVD Shrink/Nero 5.5.10.54) with no luck. Tried Maxell DVD-R 2x with AutoShrinkISO and it worked! Written on my LG/Hitachi GSA-4040B. I know 565 is a very old machine but now I'm sure it's going to serve for another year or two! More tests are coming soon...

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: I have confirmed that this player plays VCDs using Memorex CD-RW 1x-4x multispeed discs burned with Nero. It also plays Memorex 4x DVD+R burned with DVD-XCOPY. And it also plays Sony DPW47 DVD+RW discs burned with Adobe Encore.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: ok some more info.... it CAN play XVCD's... so far i am only using 2200 kbits but probably much more can be handled... at 720 x 576 res it is a no-go with a green blcoky screen.... with SVCD with CVD header there are frequent freezes from 5 seconds to 5 minutes in length..

CVD? $50 N/A 5 of 10 Comments: Meh... Its not bad but I have tried and it DOES FOR SURE play CD RW VCD's I used the header trick and it worked on my Sony High Speed CD RW 650 MB.... The DVD player itself doesnt have enough options....

It will only play <b>pressed, commercially produced</b> discs of any kind in my experience. Useless on any CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-R that I have tried. Time to trade up.

CVD? $350 N/A 6 of 10 JPG/JPEG Comments: The player is average! For the money I paid kinda disappointing. Not CD-R compatible in VCD format but plays CD-R in audio format, Go Figure!!!! Plays CD-RW in VCD format but does not play CD-RW in audio format. I'm in need of some info concerning is there anyone out there who owns this player that has found a CD-R thats compatible with this player?

N/A 2 of 10 Comments: After a year it stopped playing ordinary DVDs bought @ Blockbuster - Pocahontas! Give me a break - I mean I am not even talking about advanced features here! When I contacted JVC they told me that my warranty expired. Warranty is good for 1 year - bought it October 2000 and it stopped working during holidays - it is only 15 months that I have had it :-( Symptoms: Once the unit froze, none of the controls worked, including the power button and the only way to turn off the machine was to unplug it. lock-ups or skips during DVD movie play - not pirates - regular from Blockbuster.

N/A 5 of 10 Comments: Should be identical to JVC XV-M567GD, except black in color instead of Gold. Will not play CDs copied onto CD-R media even though my 14-year old JVC CD player will! Have not tried CD-RW yet, but suspect it will work, as the 567 gold model has been reported to work. Also tried a couple of VCDs on CD-R and it wouldn't play them. Plays DVD video very well, and the changer is nice. Resume feature is nice also. Remote conrol is dissapointing - you have to hold a 'shift' button and then press another button to fast forward / rewind. Newer JVC models' remotes don't require these finger-gymnastics. Recommended only if you don't care about CD-Rs, and you have a universal remote you can use instead of the provided one.
