| I recently tried several DVD+R in my JVC XV-M50BK player. All of my DVD+R's worked wonderfully. The brand of DVD+R media that I used was Memorex. I also used DVD X Copy (with the Nero Burning engine) to create my DVD+R's. I have not had any problems. |

This DVD Player is a company player so I don't get much time to experiment with it. But for sure she play VCD's. I'll be taking her up a grade to try SVCD on it next. I'll keep you posted

| I'v played XVCD's using CDR/RW up to 2500 bit rate and all have worked fine. Played all the DVDR's Ive made but 1. I use Nero and Movie Factory to burn. Doesn't play DVDRW, SVCD's of any kind and doesn't play Mp3. Otherwise this player has done a great job and gives a great picture. |

I have been using "Precision" CDR Media for storage. I use TMPGEnc for conversion, vcdgear for extraction and VCD Easy for authoring. I get the most up to date versions availble.
When converting I make all of the movies into full screen and adjust the bitrate to where they will fit on one disc, also adjusting color and sharpness. Most movies I use the MPEG Standard Quantise Matrix. Currently my wife has been assisting me in the making of VCD's and the one's she makes have millisecond pause throughout the movies when she does them on her pc. I use VCD for the authouring AND burning of the movies, where as on her computer, she must use CRWIN for burning.
I would like to add that I also use VCD to add chapter entries at ten minute intervals, which works well.
All in all I would have to say that this player is great, in the absence of an APEX. I haven't found a flash upgrade as of yet, still looking. |
