When I bought this, I swear it wasn't playing DVD-R media like some sites said it would, but after using it again today and testing all types of DVD-R media Maxell, TDK, Ritek, Prodisc, etc. All load and play without issue. Plus it has DTS, Dolby Digital 5.1, DVD-Audio, JPG support and for me an important factor was the A/B and A+B speaker selects.
I bought it at OneCall last summer on sale for $175. A nice slick, slim powerful good quality progressive scan dvd player/receiver and it is also region-free (though I have not verified this). This is a great site by the way. |

Burn your DVD's (+/-R, +/-RW) at 2.4x or slower speeds. It won't read 4x or above reliably.
Good sound quality but runs very hot even at low volume. The built in fan gets noisy at higher audio volume settings but is balanced so you can't hear it above the sound.
I'm having trouble with VCD's not reading even when burned at slow speeds.

If it weren't for the compatibility problems, I would give this player a 10. It's increible. The picture is crisp, the colors are incredible, the sound is amazing. The video goes slow on svcd, and it cannot play dvd-r's, which is too bad.
Besides for that, it's perfect. |
