CVD? $? over 1 year 1 of 10 Comments: This unit failed after 18 months. (JVC - soo sooorry). The hard drive failed taking everything else down. Not a very intuitive menu. Lousy playback of VHS tapes. Fast forwarding while playing would turn screen to blue - really unhelpful when cueing things up. DVD copying of VHS tapes was slow and awkward. DVD playback was okay though. Avoid JVC DVD recorders at all cost.

CVD? $900 270 days 7 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-RAM Comments: It's difficult to use but the pictures are good both in DVD+R/RW discs and VHS tapes. Avoid the use without read the instructions manual! It's very important!

CVD? $? 3 days 9 of 10 JPG/JPEG DivX XviD DVD-RAM Comments: I took receipt of this a couple of days ago, as the majority of my AV stuff is JVC and is quite distinctive with the blue lights and silver finish, I wanted something to match, and went for this one as it has it all in a box. The comments om here so far do not agree with either the magazine reviews that I have read which rate this machine very highly, or my own personal view - I have not experienced any of the locking up (so far) identified above, and having finalised DVD-r's ( the guy in the first comment should read the manual !) have had no play back problems whatsoever - I have 6 other DVD players and 5 PC DVD drives. Connectivity is excellent - recording from Sky is a breeze, and it reduces the number of boxes under the TV considerably. The dubbing facility is superb, and I have started to finally copy my VHS collection over to DVD. The only things so far that I would comment on a negative side are that the VHS recorder is not the best out there, there are better and like most stand alones the menu creations are not very good. I will report back when I am more familiar with the full functionality, but on what I've seen so far, this is a great bit of kit.

CVD? $? 7 days 3 of 10 Comments: 600 dollar Piece of garbage.Avoid at all costs.Tape unit didnt work right out of the box.Has a known "loading" error problem which occured within the first week of use which locked unit up and wouldnt eject dvd. Has no zoom feature,unit is useless when dubbing to dvd as nothing can be watched,dubs about 8x speed no where close to the advertised 24x speed.Picture quality is not the best so forget about all the super cinema nonsense. Dual tuners is deceptive as it has a seperate tuner for the vcr. Amazing vcrs have been out forever now,but JVC still cant make a descent one. Guess when they cant get that right you know what to expect with the rest of the unit.
