Had to send this in right after the warranty ran out, with a permanent and unfixable "loading" problem, the device wouldn't boot anymore. JVC asked $800 for the repair, which is $200 more than the device cost me to begin with.
The device itself would be o.k. if it worked, the menus are great, using it is fast and comfortable. You should only burn DVDs with the same video quality as the original material has been recorded in, as re-encoding crashes the machine (and destroys the DVD) in most of the cases. But otherwise it's neat.
7 points for the device, 1 point for support - 4 overall. |

Well, I bought this stuff 4 day ago, and I can say its perfect to write DVD-R, DVD-RW. But mainly not this is why I love it, its because the menu and accessibility is excellent.
Very easy to grab VHS-Video to the HardDisk of the MH20, and even more easy to CUT/EDIT, making titles, scanes..etc, and to write it onto DVD-Disks. The quality of the 102 hours record (XP) seems the same as a VHS-Video. This makes this product excellent for archiving of old Family films from VHS.
A huge help system is available too, where you can find answers to every important questions.
Remote controll can easily handle my TV (SONY).
The only mistake I did: I bought the 80GB HDD version, and I can say 160GB is a must (type: MH30)! It is because I want to store some basic movies (from TV) on the HDD - in order to just look-and-watch, as the catalogisation is very easy too.
One disadvantage I found: the colours of the recorder-front panel...well, its just a xmass lights, I dont really like it. |
