N/A 9 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD JPG/JPEG DivX Comments: Max bitrate XSVCD is at least 6500 kbps, fast forwarding won't work at such a bitrate (obviously). Haven't tested (X)VCD, why bother... Region code / Macrovision hack: depends on firmware version. Old version standard region free. New version Region code / Macrovision via remote control. High temperature can cause (temporary) malfunction.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: HE-1200 (First model) plays also DVD+R/RW, DVD-R (DVD-RW untested). It crashes when playing DVD+R/RW recorded by Philips DVDR 890.

I have two discs with a superb DTS track that do not play completely OK, while others play fine. On my previous DVD player (Philips 710) I had no problem with these two discs either. For the playback of certain segments, the player generates a lot of noise, some kind of humming. This player will be a great play-thing if you have another one on the side for the quality playback. The good thing is that it will really play everything, even MiniDVD's, and has a really affordable price.

CVD? $175 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: I bought it few days ago - it works with no problems. Sounds is very good and so is the picture quality. I didn't give 10 as I don't have a basis for comparision. The box came with no scart cable and the manual can be improved. Overall, I am very satisfied, and didn't experience problems that many people reported on other DVD's.
