CVD? $150 over 1 year 4 of 10 Comments: Audio stop frequently (on some discs more frequently than on others). You have to switch it off and on again to get audio again. Really annoying! If the audio weren't that crappy, it would be a really fine and versatile player.

Yes, for me that really works. For the most dvds the player needs several tries. The numbers show the percentage of good attempts The details are: Medium burned w. Nero 6.x 1:1 copy w. El unico problema que he detectado es que en algunas peliculas da saltos de sonido en DTS. ===================================== I´ve used Princo 4x -R and Verbatim 2.4x +R without problem. The only problem I have is a little disturb in DTS DVDs. Regards.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Great player. I bought it two years ago, never had any problem: it's perfect. PROS: - Remote Control region hack works great! - All DVD-R/+R I made works perfectly. I use DVDDecrypter to burn discs (on PC) or Disk Utility (on MAC), always with success (with a Pioneer A06). I also have a Philips DVDR 70, and all +R / +RW it burns works perfectly with Xenaro. - Great picture quality. - Remote control has all that I need where I want. CONS: - No RGB output! Only S-Video (or composite, but... bleah!) - MP3 playing is a bit strange... (see other posts, I confirm everything) ====================================== BTW: Firmware version is 1.10

N/A No rating MP3 long filename Comments: great dvd player only a few problems i have with it one being .. mp3s don't always start correctly and the second being .. one my dvd-r backups some movies the sound distorts when hits high bitrates eg. explosions .. and this doesnt' happen in my pioneer 535 .. anyone know why this happens let me know? thanx all

DVD -R and DVD +R playback is perfect (writer: NEC 1300).

CVD? $125 N/A 10 of 10 DVD-MP3 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: I successfully burned a MP3 DVD with this Modell. I used the 1.11 firware and DVD+R/+RW. Important seems to be, the way you burn it. A) use aheads´s nero burning Rom and open a new DVD Video Session B) Copy a BUP File (availble on any DVD) into the VIDEO_TS folder C) Copy all MP3 files to the root Folder (not VIDEO_TS or AUDIO_TS!) Note: MP3 files in folders will not work properly Enjoy :)

SVCDs has to be standard compliant (except of audio), but the imaage quality is great. DVD-R tested with DVD Xcopy, using 5.5.10.7b nero engine and UDF format with 2x media. with previous Nero version the dvds were readable only on PC dvd-rom.

So, do not upgrade. My menu-colour even turned from blue to ugly red. I think the vcd- and svcd-playback could be better. This player has especially problems with SVCD vbr. Sometimes the player freezes. But I like the anti-flicker option. DVD-playback is fine

N/A No rating Comments: Thanks for tip Manfred. I downloaded v1.11 and upgraded the player. The results? Well... its seems they havent fixed any of the bugs i mentioned in my review below.. In fact, it made things worse(again) Svcd's get out of sync if forwarded/rewinded or when selecting chapters. Never had this problem before, not with the original firmware that came with the player or v1.10. One small plus though, the image seems a bit sharper, more detailed. This is very good for dvd, but not so good for svcd, but you can always adjust the sharpness on your TV set. I wish I had never upgraded the firmware :(

However I want warn people to upgrade to the latest firmware(1.10) It has turned things to the worse in my case. 1.After the upgrade the player randomly stops (as if I hit the pause button) when playing dvd/s)vcd This happens like every third time I watch a film. 2.svcd's with 192 audio bitrate doesn't work anymore with the new firmware. And fast forwarding svcd's only works in 20x mode now. I had 3 fastforward options before upgrade - 5x, 10x, and 20x. I sure hope that Grundig will release another firmware upgrade soon on their website. I emailed them and asked if there will be a new version released, and they said there is already a new version 1.11 out, but I had to get that version from my local Grundig dealer..? Don't understand why they cant post it on the web.

CVD? $200 N/A 8 of 10 Comments: Nice player!!! Plays all my DVD+R/RW (INTENSO, PLATINUM, VERBATIM) made with NERO 5.5. Burned it as 1:1 Copy and as UDF The player has only one problem: it is NOT compatible with Mediavision. This means, when your TV (like my) supports Mediavision, then the Player doesn't work with Remote Control. What you have to do is to cut Pin 8 on the Scart Cable and everything works fine.

Burned DVD with Pioneer A05 would not play with cheap DATASTREAM disks in Aus. Worked with Pioneer,Princo 2X DVD -R disks.Very good player if you have Germn tv as it enables RGB connection via scart. DVD authored with Spruce up and burned with Nero and DVDdecrypter. Burnt on Pioneer DVD -RW disk but did not play, comes up with Key error.

A few comments about it: MP3 - my files worked fine (encoded with LAME), but a few files I downloaded didn't work. Maybe because of the codec that was used? I don't know. As for the bitrate I had no problem: from 96kbps to 320kbps they all worked fine. One problem tough: sometimes, when playing a track the player just freezes over, or starts playing from 0:02. Fortunately, it doesn't happen too often. Had no problems with folders either. SCVD's - so far I only used TMPGEnc Plus v2.59 and CD-RW's from Sony. Bitrate: the player doesn't deal well with a bitrate of 2500: it freezes, the sound gets out of sync, but if you lower the bitrate a bit it works fine. Is it related to the fact that I'm using CD-RW's? I don't know. A word of advice concerning audio: only use constant bitrates (CBR) as VBR's simply don't work. Selectable subtitles don't work either, so if this is an important issue to you, just forget about this player. The picture quality is excellent: sharp, well defined, a good colour contrast. For authouring I used Nero - worked fine - and VCDEasy - worked fine as well. DVD - what can I say? Perfect, superb! It couldn't be better.
