N/A 8 of 10 JPG/JPEG DVD-MP3 DivX Comments: Magnífico reproductor de audio y de dvd. Con el xvcd he probado hasta 2500 de bitrate y se ve estupendamente y de audio también bien. No lee svcd pero suena muy bien conectado a un equipo de música.

To check the servo software version of your player, you need to enter the diagnostics mode. This can be achieved by keeping pressed EJECT+STOP on the front panel while turning the unit on. Keep pressing the NEXT key on the front panel until it displays BE 03 16 08 or something like that. Some tests need you to press the NEXT key for several seconds while the sound test requires you to press the STOP key before pressing NEXT to keep moving to the next test. I also have firmware version 9.28. DVD-RW Verbatim Data Storage Version 1.1 (43139): doesn't work. DVD+RW TDK: doesn't work. DVD+RW Sony DPW47L1: doesn't work DVD-R EMTEC for general use: works! MMORE DVD-R for general use: works! I couldn't test the compatibilitry bit setting with DVD+RW since it isn't possible to do that yet with my recorder SONY DRU500A. From what I read regarding the loader of this player, it should be able to read DVD-R and DVD+RW, but probably it requires the compatibility bit to be set to DVD-ROM with DVD+RW... All DVD-R for general use version 2.0 should work... All recordings were made using Nero 5.5.10.0 in DVD-ROM ISO/UDF mode with DVD-Video compatibility flag turned on. Also, all DVD-Rs that worked were bigger than 4Gb. I read someone saying that the player wouldn't recognize the disk if it isn't almost all filled up but I didn't test this yet!

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: After entering the P-code hack with my Palm, together with the Grundig remote control, I am able to play VCD, ,XVCD, SVCD, CVD fine and the player is region free. Tried XSVCD a few times, but with less luck. Have to experiment more, I guess. Standard menus also work (including multiple menus), as well as picture slideshows, created with Ulead DVD Picture Slideshow. I used various brands of CDR(W)s as medium and four programs to create the discs: Roxio Toast 5.1.x (Mac OS X), Adaptec Easy CD Creator Deluxe, Nero Burning Rom 5.5.x and Ulead DVD Picture Slideshow; the latter three on Windows platform.

N/A 7 of 10 Comments: The Grundig GDV 110 is a nice good quality DVD-Player with an elegant design. It does not play SVCD CDs, but that doesn´t matter. It plays XVCD CD-Rs with a bitrate of up to 2500 kbps (maybe even more, I tested it up to 2500 kbps without any trouble)! I capture the (PAL) signal using the Hauppauge WinTV PVR hardware compression and store it to MPEG 2, 352x288 and 5000 kbps. Then I use DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc to convert the file(s) to MPEG 1, 352x288 (remains the same) and 2000 kbps. You might not believe it, but the final quality is simply great. It is far better than VHS or S-VHS. You have to look very concentrated to find compression artefacts. Unfortunately, the MPEG 1 files created by the Hauppauge WinTV PVR are corrupted and can not be used directly for the XVCD. That´s why I store the signal in MPEG 2 and convert it afterwards to MPEG 1.
