CVD? $175 180 days 1 of 10 Comments: I bought the GoVideo R-6540 and the unit failed within two weeks. It would give a hissing static sound over the audio making it impossible to hear the DVD audio. This also impacted the DVD recording. I returned the unit to GoVideo and a reconditioned replacement unit was sent back. It ran decently for 5 months having trouble with the remote being read as well as the disc tray not wanting to open. In the 5th month the same audio hissing static noise started on this unit, the exact same issue I had with the first unit. I e-mailed customer support and was told to clean the lens and if that didn't help they would further assist me. This "solution" didn't work and I sent sveral follow-up e-,ails to the GoVideo contact. I never got another reply from him. I called the GoVideo 800# and after an hour of holding finally spoke to a CS rep. I explained the issue of having two DVD recorder suffer the same malfunction. He told me they would "fix" this for 69.95 as the original 90-day warranty was past. Needless to say this was not satisfactory as GoVideo obviously has a quality control issue as BOTH units had the exact same failure. I will never buy from GoVideo again as their customer service is poor and the quality of their product is obviously inferior to other manufacturers products. I advise staying away from GoVideo unless you have at least a 1-yr warranty.

CVD? $90 1 days 1 of 10 Comments: Truly awful. Recording worked but the playback was brutal, with the voice out of sync. It's supposed to play DVD+R but didn't read any of my discs, saying error or no disk. It wouldn't record from a live feed when pressing record. I could set the timer and it would record but playback not impressive. remote response slow, but not to the point of being annoying. Regardless, this is going back immediately to Zellers, where it was a "bargain" pickup at $110 cdn. Yuck!

Menu wise pretty similar to all other brands of DVD recorders. Quality of recording pretty good. Looks of the unit is nice. Emailing tech for problem of uprading the play back on some movies takes 1 week for response. This unit is a good starter unit with basic features.

CVD? $? 1 days 1 of 10 Comments: Terrible product. In addition to the Remote problem mentioned earlier and start-up time from taking a disc. There was a media problem. Manual listed only 3 obscure mfgs. and these were different when I called tech support. Ended up using DVD-RW supplied w/unit. Recorded fine, except for having two images side by side. Another call to TS, and tech admitted they were having problems with their encoding hardware & firmware. Returned unit. Looking for a QUALITY unit to buy. I had been dubious of GOVIDEO, but this experience iced it. GoVideo Bites! Stay away, so these poorly engineered products go away!

N/A 1 of 10 Comments: Bought this online for $ 180.00, got it shipped home pulled out of box, looked great. But thats where the experience ended. The remote is extremely unresponsive, the startup time is horrible (if it even comes up). Whne it will actually record, it is fine - good as any, but working with it, getting it to work, is a pain. The worst part is the remot responsiveness. Tech support finally adminted it was an issue with this model. We improved it by removing the plastic (thin) that covers the IR when it was shipped. (Common Issue) With the film it was a 1 out of 10, without the film it is a 2 our of 10, in other words it did not help much. I recommend you do not buy.
