CVD? $100 N/A 9 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG DivX MPEGISO Comments: I only had few problems with this, if not authered correct (like burning a mpg2 file direct in nero's svcd funktion) it have problems fast forwarding and such, when I trie it will jump back to the beginning, same thing if movie is paused. HOWEVER, if the svcd is authered right (using vcdeasy) it works perfect, supports svcd subs, and chapters aswell, I cant say anything that ive been overall happy about this player, and think the money was spend good

XVCD 352 x 288: any bitrate (VBR, CBR, CQ) till at least 5000kbits (did not test higher) XVCD Higher formats (528 x 572, or 720 x 572): Did not work and gave a lot of green blockyness at double speed. XSVCD: MPEG2 files, any format, any rate (VBR, CBR, CQ, tested till 6000 kbit/s) Even MPEG1 (but only format 352x288) files burned on this non-compliant SVCD get played. Problem: I could use fast-forward and slow speeds with any playable format, but when trying to go back to normal play speed, it starts at the beginning of the track. DVD is OK. Maybe it is just the way I burn. Did not test subs and soundtracks. I could switch to another (empty) soundtrack, so I guess that will work. I also see subs apeare when SVCD is indicated, so need to test selectable subs.

Accepted all kinds of CD-R brands, even el-cheapo ones.

N/A No rating miniDVD/cDVD Comments: Plays VCDs and SVCDs, but doesn't accept miniDVDs (as burned from Ulead MovieFactory). Worse, miniDVDs can't be ejected from the machine once inserted and you have to power the machine off and on again! Otherwise, great great machine considering the the price paid. Nice design and image quality.

CVD? $175 N/A 8 of 10 MP3 long filename DivX MPEGISO Comments: Only tried cd-RW (nashua, hp) Tested: svcd (test image from vcdhelp.com) OK, but no subtitles (written with Nero without adjustments, so don't know about subtitles) xsvcd 720 x 480 3000Kbps (test from vcdhelp. NTSC image on PAL TV.) 720 x 575 25 fps 4000 Kbps. DV-AVI (PAL) contverted to MPEG2 and written with nero as SVCD. Plays MP3 also from directories. Short names only. Only tested uto 128 Kbits Does not do unauthered MPEG1/MPEG2 like Finlux 510.

CVD? $150 N/A 7 of 10 MP3 long filename MP3 ID3 TAG Comments: Note: haven't been able to test lots of stuff yet, will do that soon. (mp3@cdrw, vcd, svcd, xsvcd, etc.) Only thing i've found out that really sux in my opinion is that it does not shuffle mp3's! It has a weird sorting order.. first no_do_10, 11, and so on , and it puts 01 at the end. I havent got a clue why it does this, but it does. If anybody knows of any fixes for this kind of stuff please......

When the player gets warm (in case of bad ventilation) the audio will be disturbed. Sound quality CD/CD-R very good. Especially lowest audible frequenties. Beenham
