SVCD Works superb. (Nero and Fireburner)
I haven´t noticed any problems at all with this player. It also seems to be macrovision and region free =)

I can't read SVCD 2.0 cd's with my EuroLine DVD 6632.
It can read VCD but not SVCD (PAL system).
Should it be able to read SVCD cd's as well?
Please mail me about that. thanks //Patrik |

What can you expect more for $100. Picture quality is superb for the price. Sound quality is good - it supports Dolby Digital too, has digital coax output, scart, phono. It looks fairly good too and plays many, many formats. I'm very happy with this player.
For burning VCD's, SVCD's, MPEG's and MPEG2's I used Nero Burning ROM. For CD-R media I used TDK, Sony and Maxell. |

The player reads Joliet filesystems (i.e. long filenames), then shows the 11 first characters of folder/file names as US ASCII (MSB of each byte is cleared).
I tested mp3 files up to 320 kbps. All worked except one file: that one had its header data somewhere in the middle of the file. Normal files, with the header at the beginning, works fine.
MPEG1/2 ISOs are obviously unsupported, but most of them sort of work anyway. "No" in my report means that you can't count on it being usable. The following is my list of experiences.
* I have only tested MPEG-1 ISOs. (And DivX, which doesn't work.)
* DAO and TAO/multisession CDs both work well.
* Fast forward and fast review doesn't work within video files. There's only Play (which always starts from the beginning of the file), Pause and Stop. On a real VCD, FF and REW works as expected.
* Some files play with gaps in the sound towards the end of file, which is very annoying. It seems that the player lowers the framerate slightly (because it's busy reading?). So it has to stop the sound once in a while to keep it in sync. This *never* happens with real VCDs.
* Odd resolutions give odd pictures. 352x244 gives an unusable, distorted image over one half of the screen; 160x120 gives a small picture in the upper left corner. |
